On May 29 2015 the culture ship Cargo Gallery reached the pier between Carola bridge and Albert bridge in spite of the low water level of the Elbe. It had started on Friday at 8:30 in Bad Schandau, where it had excited the guests until late in the evening with contemporary dance, excerpts of an opera, and a cheerful performance by the Jindrich-Staidel-Combo. On board were the crew of the initiators of the project Miloš Burkhardt, Květoslav Vršovský, Kurt Winkels, Dan Adam, Zuzana Fuksová and Mirka Adámková as well as the members of the German partner organisation Kultur Aktiv e.V.

Dresden war auch immer schon ein Ort künstlerischer Innovation – so auch im Bereich der Oper. Was wir heute als vertrautes und gesichertes „klassisches“ Opernrepertoire ansehen, war seinerzeit umstrittene Moderne.
The Dresden opera establishment historically dates back to the 17th century. The Dresden Opera House has written opera and music history. Famous composers worked here and gave important impetus to the respective stylistic eras: Johann Adolf Hasse, the baroque opera; Carl Maria von Weber, the German romanticism; Richard Wagner, who originated from Dresden in Saxony and affected the history of opera in the 19th century like no other; and Richard Strauss with his revolutionary debut performance of “Salome” and “Elektra” in the 20th century.

Dieses Phänomen, das eine untrennbare Verschränkung der beiden Stimmlagen suggeriert, setzt sich im Konzert- und Opernrepertoire (von Monteverdi über Bach bis Mozart und Rossini) bis ins frühe 19. Jahrhundert hinein fort.
The vast field of themes involving the historical development as well as the medical and phoniatrical differences between tenor and countertenor, will be transferred by a professional singer of both registers from a pure scientific level into a concrete and personal artistic context. Artistic research – the examination and analysis of the grey area between tenor and countertenor under vocal, physical and interpretational aspects – will lead to new perceptions, the results of which may also influence modern interpretation, casting and style in the sense of a historically informed performance practice. The scientific-artistic results will also add to the understanding of a difficult area which has not been thoroughly examined in the past.

After studying in Hamburg - where I was deeply influenced by my teacher Horst Stein - I started to pursue the classic Germany conductor career and had permanent engagements, working at various theatres in Germany and Austria for 12 years. During this time I practically learned the profession from scratch and especially accumulated an extensive opera repertoire. Since successfully conducting Aida at the Sferisterio di Macerata in 1989 I have been working as a guest conductor in Europe, the USA, East Asia, and South Africa, and I have conducted numerous concerts with works from all areas of the symphonic repertoire. In the course of time many radio, TV and CD recordings such as those with the Bamberg Symphonic Orchestra for example document my work as an artist. I also teach orchestra conducting at the Karlsruhe Music Academy.
