Wir haben uns mittlerweile auf die Essenszeiten geeinigt: Frühstück um 9, Mittagessen um 14 und Abendessen um 20 Uhr chinesischer Zeit. Der Einzige, dem das nicht klar war, war der Koch. Wohl wissen wir, dass er nach nepalischer Zeit rechnet (also 2 1/4 Stunden früher), aber wir wussten natürlich nicht, dass seine Uhr zusätzlich um eine Stunde falsch gestellt ist, er aber von ihrer Richtigkeit fest überzeugt ist. Also leben wir jetzt in drei Zeitzonen gleichzeitig: Peking-Zeit (MESZ+6), Nepal-Zeit (MESZ+3:45) und Uhr des Kochs (MESZ+2:45).

Meanwhile we successfully defined the meal times: Breakfast at 9, lunch at 2 and dinner at 8 (Chinese time). The cook was the only one to whom that was not clear. Sure we know that he sticks to Nepalese time (i.e. 2 1/4 hours earlier), but of course we didn't know that his watch was going wrong by an additional hour. But he is perfectly convinced that his time is the correct one. So we are living in three time zones simultaneously: Beijing (Chinese) time (GMT+8), Nepalese time (GMT+5:45), and the cook's time (GMT+4:45).

Countries whose territory stretches from West to East by a significant distance, such as Russia, USA, Canada, Brazil and some others, are usually divided into a few time zones. One notable exception is China where Beijing time serves as the official time all over the country.
