In the lower one, where the sunlight hardly reaches the lowlands, there live and work the destitute people which have to operate enormous machines in order to provide the city with the necessary energy. In the upper town there live the rich bigwigs in immense luxury. The constellation of either sides reminds strong of the pharaoes and their slaves, which scraped a hopeless living in the shadow of their sovereigns. But the rabble mobilizes his strength and starts a rebellion against the oppressors. In order to give the story the necessary spice, Freder, the son of one of the most powerful big industrialists, stand by the side of the rebel workmen. Beside Freder, played by Gustav Fröhlich, who was an unknown actor in those days, there performs Brigitte Helm, who made her debut in the film business in the role of Maria. This Maria tries to convince the workmen to give up their resistance and get on well with the rulers. Her philosophy is that it depends only on the "unification of heart and brain" to become well in anything. Freder falls in love with Maria and together they try to direct the threating escalation into a controlled course.

It is a graminaceous plant not unlike the other durum grains except that its grain is slightly longer. The history of Kamut® is closely linked to Bob Quinn who discovered the cereal. The story goes that a US airman found the seeds during WWII inside a pyramid in Egypt and ended up sending them together with the funeral set to the United States. It seems that no-one really took any notice of the Pharaoh’s wheat, as it was called, until Bob Quinn an agronomist, came across it at a local fair. He quickly discovered the enormous potential of the Kamut® grain, with its protein level up to 40 times that of durum wheat, just to mention one of its striking characteristics. So he patented the grain with the US Ministry of Agriculture under the official name of QK77, more commonly called Kamut®. The success that Kamut® has gained is also due to the fact that it is used to cure cases of wheat gluten sensitivity. Kamut® is not totally free from gluten, therefore it is not recommended for use by coeliac sufferers. Kamut® is an internationally registered trade mark owned by KANA the association of Kamut® growers and it is produced only and exclusively using the biological or organic method in Montana. Kamut® is rich in Magnesium, Zinc , as well as Selenium which is known for its antioxidant power.

Pharaoh Amenothep IV (Tutankhamun’s father) was much less interested in military affairs than his predecessors. He focused his attention on religion and the arts. He had himself called Akhnaton, which literally means: ‘Aton wishes it’, referring to in his mind, the only god, the sun god Aton. The introduction of monotheism soon encountered widespread resistance from both the priests and the people. The progressive Pharaoh did however manage to free the arts from the priests’ constrictive prescripts. From then on, gods and Pharaohs could be depicted in poses and scenes from daily life. Akhnaton’s loving hands and his beautiful wife Nefertiti are examples of this.

In der oberen Stadt leben die reichen Bonzen in unermesslichem Luxus. Die Konstellation der beiden Seiten erinnert stark an die Pharaonen und deren Sklaven, die im Schatten ihrer Herrscher ein trostloses Dasein fristeten.

Metropolis is a huge industrial town divided into an upper and a lower town. In the lower one, where the sunlight hardly reaches the lowlands, there live and work the destitute people which have to operate enormous machines in order to provide the city with the necessary energy. In the upper town there live the rich bigwigs in immense luxury. The constellation of either sides reminds strong of the pharaoes and their slaves, which scraped a hopeless living in the shadow of their sovereigns. But the rabble mobilizes his strength and starts a rebellion against the oppressors. In order to give the story the necessary spice, Freder, the son of one of the most powerful big industrialists, stand by the side of the rebel workmen. Beside Freder, played by Gustav Fröhlich, who was an unknown actor in those days, there performs Brigitte Helm, who made her debut in the film business in the role of Maria. This Maria tries to convince the workmen to give up their resistance and get on well with the rulers. Her philosophy is that it depends only on the "unification of heart and brain" to become well in anything. Freder falls in love with Maria and together they try to direct the threating escalation into a controlled course.

A big exhibition on ancient Egypt, very original and specifically designed for the city of Orvieto, will be staged from March 12th to October 2nd , 2011. It will bring together about 250 exhibits - many of them of great importance - granted by about fifteen Italian museums and cultural institutions. The subtitle clearly underlines the meaning that the scholars wanted to give to this big and important event: "The role Italy in its pre-and post-unification phaces for the rediscovery of ancient Egypt", that is what the Egyptologists from our country were able to achieve in the Nile River area, attracted by the spirit of adventure and sometimes by hunger for easy money, and many other times attracted by the goal of increasing their knowledge about the ancient Land of the Pharaohs. "The charm of Egypt," as recalled by the exhibition's title, goes through at least three thousand years of human history. Many cultural ideas, rituals, deities, customs and traditions were derived from the land of Egypt. Then, as if to capture the sense of mystery and eternity related to that magical civilization, material evidence were removed from there: the great obelisks carried to Rome or the many finds stolen from the graves. A fascination from ancient times that captivated the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, when nobles and intellectuals used to contend for precious finds considered a lot more than just archaeological curiosities.
