This is also true when it comes to defending freedom in our own societies. Do not allow us to sit back, relax and do nothing. Populists across Europe conduct their political business on the basis of fear. They wage polemics against religious communities and those who think differently. I myself am appalled by the tasteless, anti-Semitic breakdowns of late. The fact that synagogues in Germany need to be guarded is shameful, and not only in light of our history. Nor should we ever permit the burning of mosques.

Varāhamihira notes that, according to ancient sources, the summer solstice was in the middle of the lunar mansion Āśleṣā (23°20’ Cancer) whereas in his own time it was at the beginning of Cancer.[54] Now, this formulation seems to insinuate that Varāhamihira already opted for a sidereal definition of the zodiac. In fact, we find in this text the first timid attempt to untie the zodiac from the cardinal points of the year. Varāhamihira explicitly says that the summer solstice is not precisely at the beginning of Cancer, but a little bit earlier.[55] However, he does not give any reasons why he gives preference to the sidereal zodiac. Similar to Hellenistic astrologers, Varāhamihira does not discuss the sidereal-tropical problem. Why? Did he not know how to treat it?[56]

There are components of foreign, legal and economic policy that lay the foundation for this constituent necessity – to which must correspond a political decision that takes its flesh form in the movements. The foreign policy aspects arise from a reflection on Europe’s position in the global environment. Today, Europe is part of a block of forces gathered in the North Atlantic Treaty, which orients, in an irresponsible manner, the foreign policy of the countries of the Union. The interests of the European populations are completely subordinated to Atlantic power. In this arena, we witness daily the unjust paradoxes and unjustifiable entanglements, among which we recently observed the European financing of the Ukrainian war at the same time that the refinancing of the Greek debt was blocked. But the confusion of the passivity of the people and the opacity of the decisions, of the compromises and the vileness in foreign policy of each of the countries and of the Union is indescribable: Enough is enough! The irresponsibility of this strategic and military relation represents, in this age of global instability, an extremely dangerous condition that any constituent initiative will have to consider a primary concern. (And this is also an issue of stopping the violence and the murder of people in the external borders of the Union.)

So while Charly Außerhalb’s Kramer discourse on the political left is kept secret, the catalogue gives six pages of space to the author Martin Mosebach on the title “Aus diesem Philosophicum weht mich der pure Nihilismus an” [From the Philosophicum wafts pure Nihilism], polemiscising against Kramer’s constructive modernism and celebrating the university in the IG-Farben-Haus, that Mosebach calls Poelzig Bau, ignoring history and being university compliant. The editors want to see this as a contribution to the discussion. Anyone who is versed in the history of architecture books feels themselves reminded of something else: of the meanness with which Arthur Niggli included a letter from Walter Gropius as an afterword in the Hannes Meyer book by Claude Schnaidt in 1965, to which the editor was only able to react with a copied account from his point of view, that he sent to acquaintances. But thankfully there are other contributions in this volume that are fair to Kramer.
