I'll talk about all that in my next post, as well as how this Chutes and Ladders simulation turned out to be related to software testing, conditional probabilities, Markov Chains, search-engine rankings, leaky water buckets, and other such things.
To see why, take a look at the statistics that Tableau came up with, using data from 32,000 3-player game simulations. To get this result, I filtered out all moves except the ones that had endpoint 100 (the winning square), then took statistics on my database records.

t within the scope of this post. As ever Google is our friend and a rudimentary search throws up some use ful definitions. A term coined by Ward Cunningham to describe "the cumulative consequences of corners being cut throughout a software project's design and development". According to James Shore, it is the cumulative total of less-than-perfect design and implementation in your project. A pithier explanation is provided by Tom Poppendieck who defines technical debt as everything that makes your code harder to change. I will leave it to the reader to Google who these characters are. Suffice it to say that they have served their time at the sharp end.
Technical Debt (TD) is a topic of increased significance in Enterprise circles. But, before we start to discuss Technical Debt in detail, it is perhaps wise to define Technical Debt within the scope of this post. On 3 July, I assumed my new post as German ambassador to the Republic of Botswana. I came to a country that is a highly attractive tourist destination for Germans and many others. With its natural splendours, abundant population of game, traditional tribes and sunny climate, it has become a highlight for many travellers in Africa.
More than 50 years after achieving independence, Botswana is enjoying commendable development on the African continent. Respect for human rights, institutions which are democratically legitimized, separation of powers, and an absence of political turmoil and violent confrontation make the country an example for the entire region to follow. Botswana is proactively and constructively engaged, both globally and regionally, and it is strongly committed to multilateralism. The country has used its mineral resources to develop its infrastructure and social services. It has ensured macroeconomic stability and pursues prudent fiscal policies.
