Their relations with people are not happy. Although most likely we will only get stung a few times during the autumn we just will not accept that.Well, compared to mosquitoes they are minor plagues, many times over.

The best hiding place often lies behind enemy lines, as many bacteria such as the pathogens responsible for tuberculosis or typhoid have realized. They invade immune cells and can survive there, well hidden, for some time. To eliminate such invaders, the host macrophages can initiate a suicide program. Together with researchers at the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research and ETH Zurich, the team led by Prof. Sebastian Hiller from the Biozentrum at the University of Basel has shown for the first time that a “death protein” perforates the cell membrane, resulting in macrophage bursting open. The re-exposed pathogens can then again be fought by the immune system.

Bacteria are quite creative when infecting the human organism. They invade cells, migrate through the body, avoid an immune response and misuse processes of the host cell for their own purposes. To this end every bacterium employs its own strategy. In collaboration with a British research group, structural biologists from the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, Germany...

Despite the fact that its name seems to be one of a reliable and effective application, Malware Doctor is, in fact, a deceitful creation of cyber criminals. Its intentions are not to detect real threats which are present on your system. It is also not aimed at fixing your system or removing infected files. On the contrary, it wants to penetrate into your PC without your approval and take control over the system without letting you know about its malicious intentions. The truth is that its one and only goal is to mislead the user into believing there is some serious problem with the machine, and it needs to be repaired immediately. However, the intruder insists that the only way to do that is to purchase its full version.

Ideas such as these are horrifying. But they are entering the minds of experimenters world-wide. This edition of Creation Ex-Nihilo contains a revealing article by Dr. Carl Wieland which tells of other disturbing animal and human genetics experiments. In both the United Kingdom and the United States, cow ova have been impregnated with human sperm. In Canberra, Australia, scientists have tried to fertilise a hamster egg with human sperm. In West Germany, in vitro fertilisation is said to have been used to implant twins in a man. Researchers also claim that animals could now be implanted with human babies.

There comes a time when a person wants to meet again with those who have not seen, if we are talking about old friends or colleagues, as well as, perhaps, he wants to restore relations in principle, when it comes to relatives, with whom he has never met. And we provide this service as people wanted. sometimes we have enough information to find someone by phone number, and in some cases, not enough data even to organize a search for people by name. And in this case we are conducting an additional collection of information by telephone databases of people. But in any situation, whether we have the opportunity to find only the last name or the address is set on the phone, we will always do everything in our power to get the result.

The rise of “intelligent” technology is transforming engineering, industry and the economy at an increasing pace and on an unprecedented scale. At the core of this revolution are breakthroughs in the field of machine learning which allow machines to perform tasks that, until recently, could only be performed by humans. Less prominently discussed, developments in machine learning have the potential to transform science at an equally fundamental level. While machine learning methods have been used in the past to tackle isolated prediction problems, recent breakthroughs open up an exciting new opportunity: Automated inference methods will become increasingly useful in the process of scientific discovery itself, supporting scientists in identifying which hypotheses to test, which experiments to perform, and how to extract principles describing a broad range of phenomena.

The symbiotic association between legumes (peas, beans, clover, etc.) and rhizobia has been studied in great detail and is a classic example of mutualism. These soil bacteria are rather common; they are motile and move forward by using their flagella. Moreover, they are unique in their preference for legumes (Fabaceae). They enter the root hairs of legumes where they initiate the formation of root nodules. Rhizobia require a plant host; they cannot independently fix nitrogen. The partners are only able to fix elementary nitrogen jointly and make it bio-available to either one of them. The bacteria supply ammonia and amino acids to the plant and in return receive organic acids from the plant. The rhizobia-legume symbiosis is also highly advantageous for agriculture as the ability to fix nitrogen enables the legumes to grow well on poor soil. Unlike the nitrogen-fixing symbionts, tumour-producing Agrobacterium and fire blight causing Erwinia bacteria are pathogenic and do not benefit the plant. These interactions are not regarded as typical symbioses, but rather as antagonistic symbioses in which only the bacterial partner benefits and the plant gets damaged or dies.

7. The principal challenge for critique today is to challenge the privatization of our existence. In the globalized world, not only have goods and land been privatized but our very existence as well.  The experience that we have of the world refers us to a private field of references: individual or collective, it is always self-referential.  This privatization of existence has two consequences: first, the depoliticizing of the social question. This means that we have enemies but we don’t know where our friends or allies are.  We can perceive the foci of aggression against our lives, but not the line of demarcation between friend/enemy. We can speak of financial speculation, precarity, mobbing[1], borders, etc. But how do we name the “we” that suffers and struggles with these realities?  By the same mechanism, the “enemy” also becomes privatized.  Every person has their own enemy, in their own particular problem.  The multiple fronts of struggle are difficult to share.  They infiltrate into every cell of our everyday misery, which is miserable precisely because in this everyday everyone is on their own, as an individual or in their small ghetto.  But the privatization of existence also has a second consequence: the radicalization of the social question, which sinks its roots directly in our own experience of the world and not someone else’s. To ask for this “we” requires starting form the only thing we possess: our own experience.  The fragmentation of meaning contains this paradoxical virtue: we are obliged to start with ourselves.  Here we discover the importance of abandoning the third person, which dominated the traditional critical thinker, and exploring our own fields of possible experiences. The quest for the common today requires the courage to drown oneself in their actual experience of the world, even if it is naked and empty of promises.  This is what it means to embody critique.
