Danach statistische Prozess- und Produkt-Prüfungen folgen, um sicherzustellen, daß jede Prozess-Abweichung sofort festgestellt wird.

In 1996, Valk Welding of Ablasserdam, Holland, which specialises in the automation of welding processes, launched with DTPS (DeskTop Programming and Simulation System) a software system onto the market which for the first time allowed welding programmes to be created on a separate computer. The fact that it used Panasonic software, with identical programming on both the computer and the robot, was unique. It was now possible to prepare the programme without interrupting welding production, and as a result increase significantly the run time of the welding robots.

Die Forschungsfelder der Abteilung lassen sich in einer Matrixstruktur in je vier Kompetenz- und Anwendungsfelder unterteilen. Die Kompetenzfelder sind "Wellenausbreitung und Funkkanalcharakterisierung", "Link Level Simulation", "System Level Simulation" und "Generierung realistischer Referenzszenarien für die Simulation". Die vier Anwendungsfelder sind "Methoden und Algorithmen für die Planung und Optimierung von Infrastrukturnetzen","Multigigabit-Indoorkommunikation","Fahrzeug-X-Kommunikation" und "Navigation". Die in der Abteilung bearbeiteten Projekte lassen sich in der Regel einem der vier Anwendungsfelder zuordnen, wobei die Forschung innerhalb jedes Projektes dann in einem oder mehreren der genannten Kompetenzfelder erfolgt.

The Department of Mobile Radio Systems deals with radio transmission in all its facets. The fields of research of the department can be classified into a matrix of four fields of competence and application areas each. The fields of competence are "Wave Propagation and Radio Channel Characterisation", "Link Level Simulation", "System Level Simulation" and "Generation of Realistic Reference Scenarios for the Simulation". The application areas are "Methods and Algorithms for Planning and Optimisation of Infrastructure Networks", "Multi-Gigabit Indoor Communication", "Car-to-X Communication" and "Navigation". The projects dealt with in this department normally can be assigned to one of these application areas, and in each project research is carried out in one or in a number of the stated fields of competence.

Informatiker des Regionalen Rechenzentrums Erlangen sowie der Lehrstühle für Multiscale Simulation, System Simulation und Rechnerarchitektur der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) haben sich zum Ziel gesetzt, das so genannte GPU Computing, also das wissenschaftliche Rechnen mit Grafikkarten, zu optimieren. Unter Leitung des Zentralinstituts für Scientific Computing der FAU haben sie sich erfolgreich bei gleich zwei Förderprogrammen von Nvidia, dem Weltmarktführer im Bereich Visual und High‑Performance Computing, durchgesetzt. Das Unternehmen unterstützt die FAU-Informatiker zum einen finanziell über einen Zeitraum von einem Jahr bei ihren Forschungen. Zum anderen stellt Nvidia der Universität besonders leistungsfähige Grafikkarten zur Verfügung. Davon profitieren vor allem die Studierenden, weil die Grafikkarten bei öffentlich zugänglichen Rechnern in einem CIP-Pool an der Technischen Fakultät installiert werden.

Computer scientists from Erlangen Regional Computing Centre and the Department for Multiscale Simulation, System Simulation and Computer Architecture at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) have set themselves the goal of optimising so-called GPU Computing, i.e. scientific computing using graphics cards. Under the leadership of the FAU Central Institute for Scientific Computing, they have achieved success in two funding programmes run by Nvidia, the global market leader in Visual and High Performance Computing. The company will provide FAU computer scientists with financial support for their research over a one year period. Nvidia will also provide the university with very high performance graphics cards. This will benefit students most because the graphics cards are to be installed on publicly accessible computers in a CIP pool at the Technical Faculty.
