A memory of the famed early middle age era of Neretvan history is the monumental sculpture of prince Domagoj and his archers, one of the largest sculptures of its kind in Europe. Called by the Venetians as the most wicked croatian prince, it dominates the valley by sitting on top of a nearby hill.

Only about half of the final energy consumption can be attributed to mobility and only 21% to electricity. The German energy revolution is primarily regarded as an electricity revolution by politics, but it neglects the by far biggest energy-saving and CO2 reduction potential of all the energy consumption sectors in the heating industry.

Jan Mertas works focus on simple pictorial motifs drawn from everyday life, which though a process of abstraction and alienation acquire a complexity and enigmaticness that transcend the commonplace. But depth of content in no way means a neglect of form: transparent, everyday objects or architectonic fragments, seemingly dissolving in the artists brushwork, are placed against monochrome or blended backgrounds. Jan Merta renounces the clear separation of figure and ground in favour of their complex merging and interpenetration. Finely abstracted details are combined with the representational in such a way that traditional motifs still lifes, portraits, landscapes etc. assume an enigmatic and at times underlying humorous or ironic quality.

Er lässt die Formen malerisch verschwimmen und löst die Figuren auf.
So dominiert

The new series included two groups of works. In one of them Richter focuses on the observation of the body and corporeality. In his previous works the human body was strongly contoured and always embedded in a superordinate narrative. Richter has retained the stereotyped and fleshless character of the figures, but now goes further. His interest lies above all in the surface. He allows the forms to blur and thereby lets the figures dissolve. In this way a fragmented, shattered physicality prevails. The figures are flat and intertwined; the forms crash mercilessly into each other and hint at the uncontrolled human sexuality, which becomes visually reinforced in pornography. Richter developed his latest works by starting out with the line and paint.

François Lévêque is professor of Law and Economy and has been interviewed by Christophe Alix and Marc Chevallier on a proclivity for monopolies in the high-technology industry. "This is a sector where innovations are amplified by networks: the more widespread a product is, the more consumers are better off adopting it to ensure comfortable usage. In the high-tech market, competition does not aim to corner part of the market, but to control more or less all of it. This is the real motivation of innovation. A company will dominate for a period, like Microsoft in the PC and Apple era during the first stages of digital music, and then another innovation will come and they will progressively loose their influence. The succession of monopolies is a rather common trait in the high-tech industry."

Before being awarded the 1972 Olympic Games, the Oberwiesenfeld where the park now stands was home only to the ice rink and the TV tower. This is why it was considered the ideal place to construct the Olympic Park as part of the “The Green Olympics”. With this motto, this was the first time that an event of this size took an ecological perspective into consideration. More than forty years later, a green landscape dominated by the venues sets this park apart from others. Of particular interest is the design of the Olympic Stadium. Its roof is reminiscent of a spider web and has a very different feel from the other, more monumental Olympic venues.
