Many Austrians can still remember exactly how they spent the summer of 1978, as the national football team played their best matches of the World Cup in Argentina. The high point was the 3:2 win in Cordoba against Germany and the radio commentator Edi Finger achieved immortality by going completely crazy. This is the summer which Tondo (Niki Ryba) spends in Vienna. The long summer holidays without the journey that the neighbours can afford to make. The summer holidays have their own rhythm - at the beginning time appears to be suspended and at the end it seems to run away. Antonin Svoboda‘s mid-length feature film communicates perfectly an atmosphere of lethargy and sultry sexuality. The inn which is the central location. The props which manifest the late 70‘s - there is a wonderful scene in which Tondo is taken by his older sister to her boyfriend and then sent to play with a bicycle which could only be invented in the glamour seventies - the fur 'tail' on the back is the decisive detail. The little tricks used by the father behind the counter to keep customers happy and business going. The bed-ridden woman neighbour to whom Tondo brings the meals every day. All of these more or less absurd events fuse into a round dance which is experienced by a completely unmoved Tondo who also voices no commentary. Nevertheless Summer Holiday is a realistic film, miles away from the exploitation of the 'Vienna clichè' often in evidence in Austrian cinema and with a real young star in the leading role. Die beste Zeit für die Reise nach Kolumbien ist der europäische Winter (Dezember-März), Du kannst billigere Flüge finden und auch die Preise der Hotels sind in der Regel niedriger. Auch während dieser Zeit gibt es nicht viele Touristenmassen, weil weniger Leute Urlaub haben, die schlechteste Zeit ist unser Sommer, wenn viele Leute Sommerferien haben und die Preise steigen.

Because Colombia is almost on the equator, there are no seasons and it is warm during the whole year. The temperature differences are noticeable rather according to the altitude and its changing – the higher you are, the colder it is. The seasons and its temperatures changes are more visible in the North of the country. Because there are officially no seasons, Colombians from Bogotá used to say that they have 4 seasons within one day. Spring in the morning, midday is summer, in the evening autumn and during the night winter, it is common to see the people dressed in a winter jacket and flip-flops. During one day the temperature difference can change rapidly, even Europeans who got used to the cold can be surprised how chilly it can be. The best time for hiking in the Colombian’s mountains is between January and March. In the North of Colombia it is better to avoid our summer time (June-August), this is the time when in that region is very rainy, very muggy with lots of mosquitos. The best time for the trip to Colombia is European winter (December-March), you can catch cheaper flights and also the prices of the hotels are usually lower at this time. Also, during this time there are not many tourist crowds, because less people have holidays, the worst time to go is our summer, when many people have summer vacations and the prices are rising.
