Based on this principle, a variety of reactions such as oxidations and reductions can be realized in an environment-friendly and cost-efficient way.

A major biennial on the African continent does not only arouse great expectations, but also elicits cliché fears. Will all of the works arrive on time? Will the event begin on time? Will the artists be present? But then the gates of the main building of the biennial, the former Palais de Justice, open punctually to the minute; it is as though the impatient art circus is entering a long-concealed treasure chest. The vacant palace of justice, a modernist hall built in the late 1950s with high, slender columns, a greenish mosaic floor, and a light-flooded atrium with greenery, is one of the most spectacular places to show contemporary art. The initial concern that even the most striking or largest artworks wouldn't be able to compete with the architecture is unfounded. Indeed, the opposite is true. Powerful works, such as the installation by the photographer Francois-Xavier Gbré, can shine, and weaker contributions suddenly take on an aura they definitely would not have had in a white cube. Gbré's neon tubes scream out "I am African" - but in Chinese characters. On the floor are sheets of paper with words such as "work," "concrete," and "stop" written on them in French and Chinese. It is not difficult to understand what they address: China's growing presence not only in Senegal but all over the continent. For example, the Chinese government just financed the new Museum of African Civilizations in Dakar to the tune of 2.2 million Euros.

This project for the world leading manufacturer of clean room equipment for the pharmaceutical industry, aims to infuse poetics within a production facility. A large rectilinear monolith has been exploded to form four distinct volumes of programmatic distribution. The internal raw surfaces of the volumes are cladded in golden metal juxtaposing the practical with the precious. A large stair, running the length of the facility fills the middle void and serves to organize space vertically, diagonally, and horizontally as it ascends towards the light. The design allows for varying degrees of exchange between public and private, researchers, engineers, and manufacturers in which a positive environment catalyzes progress. Skan is the first building and generator of the historical Bricks Masterplan in Allschwil/Basel.

It is said that the best view of the world is from the back of a horse. In the case of Český Krumlov, the most beautiful view of the surroundings is from a boat. The meanders of the river Vltava, which has inspired many artists, give the city its special charm. The river flows right through the historical city centre, creating cosy nooks, leading past the main sights, and affording lovely views from many vantage points and unexpected angles. For example, the Cloak Bridge at Krumlov Castle or the Gothic Church of St. Vitus look their best when viewed from the water.
