According to him, the main purpose of the advertiser is to catch attention. But he also argued that any painter, poet, musician or any artist is trying to set a trap for your attention, this is the nature of art. So McLuhan talks about art in a very psychological sense, which is a good way to approach music I think. So I thought it could be a nice title for my work. The title doesn’t mean that what I would like to do is a virtuoso eye-catching light show with abstract sound to catch people’s attention. Rather it suggests a possible way how to think about music in terms of perception and cognition without building a pseudo-scientific context around my work.
