Immigrant entrepreneurs often struggle with complicated regulations and legal complexities when starting their own business – and they tend not to complain because it is often the same in their countries of origin. So, to help them get going, Danish business organisations and several job centres have established a new entrepreneur course that builds on their existing skills (e.g. languages, networks) and helps them navigate through the Danish system. The nine weeks of training includes four weeks on a company placement. The aim is to improve the sustainability of immigrant businesses – which are more likely to close within five years than those set up by native Danes.
