90-year-old Jimmí Ó Sé was born in Pittsburgh, USA, in 1916, but his family returned to their native Fionntrá when he was four years old. His mother taught him his first tune on the melodeon, Séamaisín, when he was eight years old, and he has been playing music ever since and is still a regular fixture at sessions and dances in west Kerry. Jimmí's father, Pat Pheats Ó Sé, was a wonderful storyteller and passed this gift on to his son. Jimmí's oral lore, including historical, humorous and ghost stories, can be heard on the album together with a selection of music including slides and polkas, arranged and accompanied by Steve Cooney. Although folklore has been collected in Fionntrá for over one hundred years, this is the first time such material can be found on CD.
