Independent studies are about expanding medical knowledge for the benefit of patients, rather than trying to satisfy Regulators that something is safe to put on the market. Independent clinical trials are often carried out by several research centres working on the same question, even in different countries – at a multinational level – testing the treatment on different populations. The most reliable and useful results, in fact, come from clinical trials involving a wide variety of people – including those considered more fragile, like elder patients, children, and women – to make sure the outcomes apply to these people as well.

Le linn Togra Ealaíon POBAL 2010 chuir múinteoirí agus daltaí meánscoile ar shúile POBAL an gá le nótaí staidéar ar ‘ Breithiúnas’. Dá thairbhe sin, d’iarr POBAL ar Shéamas Mac Annaidh nótaí staidéir a scríobh do phacáiste CDNótaí Staidéir ar ‘Breithiúnas’ .
During POBAL’s Arts Project 2010 the need for Study Notes on Breithiúnas was highlighted by teachers and pupils, and because of that, Séamas Mac Annaidh was asked to write the study notes for the CD package. The CD package also contains an introduction from Dr. Éamon Ó Ciosáin, a lecturer at NUI Maynooth and a grandson of the author, and an MP3 recording of a workshop on the subject which provides the opportunity of hearing scenes from the play acted out and discussed by the coordinator, actors, teachers and pupils. The package was launched in St Dominic’s High School on 28/9/10 by the Minister for Education Caitriona Ruane, with guest speakers Damian Smyth, Arts Council NI’s Head of Drama and Literature, and Dr. Éamon Ó Ciosáin. Dúirt Anna Ní Ghallachair, Cathaoirleach Údarás na Gaeltachta, “Tá bród ar Údarás na Gaeltachta go raibh ról ceannaireachta aige i gcur chun cinn agus i bhforbairt an togra seo ón chéad lá i gcomhar le pobal Ros Muc agus pobal Chonamara. Is ionad turasóireachta d’ardchaighdeán é seo a dhéanann ceiliúradh ar shaibhreas cultúrtha na Gaeltachta, ar oidhreacht an cheantair agus ar áilleacht thírdhreach Chonamara. Déantar ceiliúradh ar an Ghaeilge mar theanga chomhaimseartha agus bheo tríd na taispeántais go léir atá le feiceáil ann. Déantar léiriú ar na gnéithe sin, físeanna Phádraig Mhic Phiarais faoi chultúr na hÉireann a chur i láthair san Ionad trí shúile an Phiarsaigh. Nach fóirsteanach go bhfuil an oscailt oifigiúil seo á déanamh inniu ar bhreithlá an Phiarsaigh féin agus cuirfidh an tIonad nua seo leis an oidhreacht atá fágtha ina dhiaidh aige.”
Anna Ní Ghallachair, Chairperson of Údarás na Gaeltachta said, “Údarás na Gaeltachta is proud to have been involved with this project from the beginning, we have played a central role the development of the new visitor centre in association with the community of Ros Muc and the community of Conamara. This visitor centre celebrates the cultural wealth of the Gaeltacht, the heritage of the region and the beautiful landscape of Conamara. The Irish language is celebrated as a contemporary and vibrant language through the exhibitions. These aspects, along with Patrick Pearse’s vision for Irish culture, are explored through the eyes of Pearse. It is fitting that this official opening takes place on Pearse’s birthday and this new visitor centre will add to his legacy.”
