Rugadh agus thogadh Seònaid ann an Tobar Mhoire ann am Muile, agus ‘s ann an sin a tha i fhathast a’fuireach! Thug i a-mach ceum ann an Gàidhlig agus Matamataic aig Oilthaigh Dhun Èideann, agus bha i a’teagasg an dà chuspair sin fad iomadh bliadhna. Bhuannaich Seònaid Bonn Òr a’Chomuinn ann an Inbhir Nis ann an 1984, ach ron àm sin bhiodh i a’gabhail pàirt ann am farpaisean aig Mòdan Ionadail agus Nàiseanta. Bha i na ball den chòmhlan “Sound of Mull” a bha gu math ainmeil anns na seachdadan ‘s na h-ochdadan. Tha i fhathast a’seinn ann an Còisir Mhuile agus ann an Atomaig Piseag.
Janet was born and brought up in Tobermory, in Mull, and in fact she still lives there. She graduated in Gaelic and Mathematics from Edinburgh University, and spent many years teaching those two subjects. She won the Gold Medal in Inverness in 1984, but before that she competed in many Local and National Mods. She was a member of the “Sound of Mull” group, which was very well known in the 70s and 80s. She still sings with the Mull Choir and Atomic Piseag.
