The stylish ‘My Guru’ salad bar in downtown Vilnius is an innovative response to helping young drug addicts find their way back into a normal, working life. Employers and society in general can take a dim view of substance abuse which, in turn, leads to marginalisation and social exclusion for sufferers, many of whom come from relatively well-off backgrounds. To give ex-addicts a helping hand – and to prevent their relapsing – the authorities in Vilnius focused on rehabilitation through work, and set up the My Guru social enterprise to achieve this.
