Meddai Chris Laister-Smith, ar ran y cwmni: "Mae Waterstones yn falch o’r cyfle i gefnogi’r digwyddiadau a’r gweithgareddau a drefnir i ddathlu Diwrnod y Llyfr yng Nghymru. Dros y tair blynedd ddiwethaf rydym wedi defnyddio’r arian a godwyd trwy werthiant bagiau plastig yn ein siopau i bwrpas hyrwyddo darllen. Mae Diwrnod y Llyfr yn codi ymwybyddiaeth o’r pleser mae pobl yn ei gael trwy ddarllen, ac mae’r gweithgareddau a drefnir yn dod â llyfrau a darllen yn fyw i filoedd o blant Cymru."
The World Book Day campaign in Wales is supported by booksellers Waterstones. Chris Laister-Smith, on behalf of the company, noted: "Waterstones are proud to support the World Book Day activities in Wales. For the past three years we have backed the campaign by contributing the funds raised through the levy on selling plastic bags in our shops to support activities that promote reading. World Book Day raises awareness of the enjoyment that reading gives, and the activities arranged throughout Wales will bring books and reading alive to thousands of children."

"Roedd hi'n brosiect anferth i ni am sawl reswm; rydym ni'n cyhoeddi dwy fersiwn o'r gyfrol, un Gymraeg ac un Saesneg, yn ogystal â llyfr cwis a llyfr gweithgareddau (Cymraeg a Saesneg) i gydfynd â Cymru ar y Map. Mewn gwirionedd, fe fydd 'na chwe llyfr ar gael yn y gyfres, a ry'n ni'n disgwyl iddyn nhw weithio'r un mor dda yn yr ysgol a'r cartref. Ry'n ni mor gyffrous am lawnsio'r gyfres, ac yn gobeithio y bydd plant dros Gymru gyfan yn cael eu hysbrydoli i ddysgu mwy am ein gwlad!"
"It's been a huge project for us, not least because we are maintaining our tradition of publishing an English and a Welsh version, but we are also launching both a quiz and an activity book (in English and in Welsh) to compliment Wales on the Map. Essentially, there will be 6 books available in the range, and we anticipate that they will work equally as well in school and at home. We are so very excited to launch this series, and hope that children all over Wales will be inspired to learn more about our homeland!"

Meddai Jade: "Mae’n anrhydedd fawr i gael ein dewis ar gyfer ymgyrch bosteri Diwrnod y Llyfr 2014, i ysbrydoli plant i ddarllen. Rhaid i chwaraewyr proffesiynol, yn ddynion a merched, roi’n hael o’u hamser ac egni wrth ymarfer er mwyn bod ar eu gorau. Ond mae’n bwysig hefyd cael amser i ymlacio, ac mae darllen yn wych ar gyfer adegau fel hyn."
Jade noted: "It's a great privilege to be selected for the World Book Day 2014 poster campaign to inspire youngsters to read. Professional sportsmen and sportswomen invest a great deal of time and energy in their training in order to be at their best. But it’s just as important to get some time to relax, and reading is ideal for times such as these."

Meddai Helgard Krause, Prif Weithredwr y Cyngor Llyfrau, sydd wedi dysgu Cymraeg ei hun: "Rydym yn hynod o falch o gyflwyno'r llyfrau newydd yma i gynulleidfa sy'n hanfodol i'r farchnad lyfrau Cymraeg. Mae'r iaith Gymraeg yn rhan annatod a phwysig iawn o'n diwylliant, ac mae'r llyfrau hyn yn ffordd wych o annog mwy o oedolion i ddysgu neu i wella eu Cymraeg."
Helgard Krause, Chief Executive of the Welsh Books Council, who has herself learnt Welsh, said: "We are very pleased to welcome these new books to an audience that's crucial to the Welsh-language books market. The language is a vitally important part of our culture and these books are a fantastic opportunity to encourage more adults to learn or improve their Welsh."

‘Mae mis Tachwedd yn gyfnod masnachu hollbwysig i’r cyhoeddwyr ac i Ganolfan Ddosbarthu’r Cyngor Llyfrau,’ meddai Helena. ‘Arbrawf yw’r siop pop-yp, gan obeithio y bydd modd cydweithio â siopau llyfrau eraill yn y dyfodol os bydd y fenter hon yn llwyddo.’
‘Christmas is a crucial trading period for the publishers as well as for the Books Council’s Distribution Centre,’ said Helena. ‘This surprise pop-up is a trial; if it’s a success we hope to join forces with other bookshops and give them the same opportunity in the future.’

Cafwyd orig hwyliog yn eu cwmni yn olrhain bywyd Alun Lewis yn yr ardal a'i brofiadau yn ystod yr Ail Ryfel Byd ac fel y mae'n cael ei gydnabod bellach fel un o'r llenorion craffaf a fu'n ysgrifennu am y profiadau erchyll ac ysgytwol a ddaeth i ran cymaint o'i gyfoedion.
The discussion was most informative focusing on Lewis' life in the local area and his experiences during the Second World War and how he is now recognised as one of the most significant writers to emerge from that sad episode.

Ac yntau’n un o athletwyr mwyaf llwyddiannus Prydain, roedd Jamie’n aelod o’r tîm cyfnewid dros 400m a enillodd y fedal arian ym Mhencampwriaethau’r Byd yn 1997 ond, ddeng mlynedd yn ddiweddarach, cyfaddefodd aelod o dîm America, a enillodd y fedal aur, ei fod wedi defnyddio cyffuriau gwaharddedig.
One of Britain’s most decorated athletes, Jamie was part of the 400m relay team which won silver in the 1997 World Championships, but ten years later a member of the gold medal winning American team admitted to using banned substances. "We all felt cheated because we had spent so many years feeling disappointed with our performance at not gaining gold," says Jamie in the book. "We were upgraded, but the gold medal was a tarnished one."

Yn ei lyfr, mae Jamie’n cofio’r hwyl a gâi wrth gystadlu yn yr ysgol ac ar hyd a lled y byd, a’r ffaith fod ei holl fywyd yn troi o amgylch pa mor gyflym y gallai redeg. Hyd yn oed ar ôl ymddeol o’r gamp, ni allai Jamie arafu.
In the book, Jamie recalls the fun he had competing in school and around the world, and how his life on the track was always about how fast he could run. Even after retirement he could not slow down.  He now manages Definitive Sports, a sports management company involved with a new generation of sportsmen and women, as well as current sporting stars such as Wales’s rugby player Shane Williams. "I’m blessed because I am able to make a living out of something I love doing," adds Jamie.

Mae’r sbrintiwr 400m, a aned yn Nottingham ac a faged yng Nghasnewydd, yn credu mai ei rieni mabwysiedig sy’n bennaf cyfrifol am ei lwyddiant, gan eu bod wedi ei annog i wneud ei orau bob amser. "Wrth edrych yn ôl ar fy ngyrfa," meddai, "teimlaf mai iddyn nhw mae’r diolch pennaf am unrhyw lwyddiant gefais i. Maen nhw wastad wedi bod yno, yn fy nghefnogi i’r carn."
The 400m sprinter, who was born in Nottingham and brought up in Newport, puts his success down to his adoptive parents, who inspired him to be the best he could be. "When I look back on my career, it is because of them that I feel as successful as I am told I have been.  They have always been there for me," he says.

Dyma deitlau sy'n trin a thrafod profiadau amrywiol Cymru a Chymreictod – ei hieithoedd, ei chymunedau a'i chymeriadau, ei dylanwadau, thirweddau a'i straeon; o'r gorffennol, y presennol ac i'r dyfodol.
From the frost-leaden Baltic Sea to a haunted house on the outskirts of fictional Aberdyddgu, to the misleadingly silent forests of northern Ontario, the 2018 Short List takes readers on many voyages of discovery. Here are titles which explore the many experiences of Wales and Welshness – its languages, communities and characters, its influences, landscapes and its stories; past, present and future. We see Wales as a "micro-cosmopolitan country" which houses eccentrics, revolutionaries, drug-dealers, wizards, introverts, and communists. Readers will learn about the world of flowers, of folk medicine, of the "last great modernist", and spend time in the space between what is uttered and what is meant; between history, story and nullity.
