They had a full "knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

How many careless believers will bend before our sinless Saviour thinking they were prepared for this hour, that they could endure His eyes of fire and the brightness of His holiness — only to discover that they had never truly denied the flesh and taken up the Cross to follow Him into resurrection life?

Laat my my antwoord herhaal op die Lombardi Vraag, wat van toepassing is op elke gelowige, kerk en uitreik: Ons is hier om Jesus te bedien. En ons kan onmoontlik ons Saligmaker en Here bedien tensy ons by sy teenwoordigheid begin.
No biblical figure ever needed strategic plans more than King David.  He faced enemy armies that required quick, purposeful thinking in the midst of life-or-death situations.  And he had to rule a divided kingdom between Israel and Judah.  So how did David accomplish his purposes to bring God glory and end up as Israel’s most renowned king?

Isaiah saw the glory of Jesus centuries ago; and he preached Christ in his own day. Isaiah not only saw the future Lord and Savior; he also had a hard, devastating vision of the very days in which we live. His vision in Chapter 21 must be understood, heeded and proclaimed! It is a message FOR THIS TIME!

Ek dring by jou aan: Ontmoet jou Saligmaker in gebed.
Intimacy with him is the beginning of our empowerment to do his works on earth.  We simply can’t move forward in those works without it.  I urge you: Meet your Savior in prayer.  Remind yourself of his amazing promises through his Word.  He is faithful to guide you by his Spirit’s presence in you.  Make that your first step in doing the works of Jesus: to know him intimately.  It’s a work you can start today. Amen!

"For of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them" (2 Peter 2:19-21).

Ek het U Woord so verwaarloos – ek het so min gebid – ek was so louwarm.
How many will cry aloud — "Oh, blessed Saviour, it could have been so much more victorious a life! I could have known You so much more intimately. I should have believed Your Word about how worthless the things of earth were! I so neglected Your Word — I prayed so little — I was so often lukewarm. I did not care for the lost and needy as I should have. The naked, the poor, the hungry, the prisoner I neglected!"

(2 Petrus 3:17-18).
There will be thousands of Christians so cold at midnight that not even the falling judgments will move them back to God. Like backslidden Israel they will defy God, as if to say, "Let judgment come! We'll just rise up and build again!" Judgment was falling on Israel — God's wrath was upon them — "Yet the people do not turn back to Him who struck them, nor do they seek the Lord of hosts" (Isaiah 9:13 NAS). Jeremiah mourns for his people, "...Thou has stricken them, but they have not grieved; Thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction..." (Jeremiah 5:3). We have this warning from Peter: "Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ..." (2 Peter 3:17-18). Don't be led away by sin or false doctrines, or by anger at the Word!

Those who seek to tear down the holy standards of Christ suggest that Jesus was a pal of sinners who not only ate with them and drank with them, but who lived and moved in their realm. Nothing could be further from the truth! When Jesus walked this earth, every Gentile was considered a sinner. If a Pharisee's robe even touched the flesh of a Gentile, he thought of himself as unclean and proceeded to wash his garment as soon as possible. Jesus did communicate with sinners, and declared Himself to be their friend and savior. He did go into the homes of Gentiles to eat. But never once did He go into their dens of iniquity and partake of their spirit. Furthermore, Paul makes it clear that there was a wall between Christ and the wicked. "For it was fitting that we should have a such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners and exalted above the heavens" (Hebrews 7:26 NAS).
Here is a righteous man, exiled on the Island of Patmos for his unbending faith and testimony, obedient unto death, having, like Paul, given up all that is in the world to know Christ — and he crumbles in the blinding presence of Christ as judge. How will modern Christians stand before His fiery presence, who come with the stench of idolatry upon them? No one will appear there, with lusts clinging to them like deep-rooted vines and say to Him, "Overlook my rebellion, my compromise, my love for pleasure — and judge me not on my righteousness, but on Yours, O Saviour — for I believe I am justified by faith." Keep in mind that death has no sanctifying power. Death will not change character. Those who refuse to forsake their sins are not truly saved. We are called to "confess and forsake our sins" (Proverbs 28:13).
