Dmitry tells us that there are a lot of discussions and controversy about expanding bike lanes right now in New York, and opponents of this like to dismiss all bike riders by lumping them into one or two stereotypes: "Either you’re a spandex-wearing roadie, or else a trendy, entitled hipster. I hope that my project, by showing the great diversity of normal people using a bike for transportation, can be a small help in showing that bikes are a legitimate and needed form of transportation, and that the city has an interest in promoting biking and making it safer for everyone."

Dmitry nous apprend qu’il existe beaucoup de débats et de controverses à propos de la multiplication des pistes cyclables à New York et que les opposants à ce projet aiment à enfermer les cyclistes dans deux stéréotypes. "Soit vous êtes un cycliste sur route moulé dans son lycra, soit un bobo dernière mode qui se croit tout permis. En montrant la grande diversité de personnes normales qui se déplacent à vélo, j’espère que mon projet permettra de contribuer à prouver que le vélo est un moyen de transport légitime et nécessaire, et que la ville a intérêt à promouvoir son utilisation en toute sécurité pour tout le monde."

Espero que o meu projeto, ao mostrar a grande diversidade de pessoas normais que usam a bicicleta como transporte, possa ser uma pequena ajuda ao mostrar que as bicicletas são um meio necessário e genuíno de transporte; e que a cidade tem interesse em promover o ciclismo e em torná-lo seguro para todos.”
