Responsabilité accrue des agents américains : En vertu de la Section 107 de la FSMA, toutes les installations alimentaires à l’étranger doivent désigner un agent américain au moment de l’enregistrement et du réenregistrement. Si le rôle de l’agent américain a été très limité depuis la promulgation de la Loi sur le bioterrorisme (BTA) en 2002, la FSMA a radicalement changé la donne. Ainsi, elle impute à l’agent américain la responsabilité financière du règlement des frais d’utilisation facturés à une installation enregistrée et accroît également les responsabilités de l’agent américain face à l’installation enregistrée.
