Bern, 21.03.2013 - Bundesrat Didier Burkhalter, Vorsteher des Eidgenössischen Departements für auswärtige Angelegenheiten (EDA), hat am 21. März 2013 seinen lettischen Amtskollegen Edgars Rinkēvičs zu einem offiziellen Arbeitsbesuch in Bern empfangen.

Relations between Switzerland and Latvia are excellent. During talks with his Latvian counterpart, Federal Councillor Burkhalter stressed the common ground between the two countries, in particular their shared values and European heritage. During the 1990s period of transition Latvia received technical assistance and financial aid from Switzerland. Today, it is one of the beneficiaries of Switzerland’s contribution to reduce economic and social disparities in the enlarged EU. Some 12 projects designed to reduce economic and social disparities in Latvia will be implemented between 2012 and 2017, at a total cost of CHF 60 million.

Les relations entre la Suisse et la Lettonie sont excellentes. Lors de son entretien avec son homologue letton, le conseiller fédéral Didier Burkhalter a souligné que leurs deux pays ont beaucoup en commun, en particulier tout ce qui touche à leurs valeurs et à l’héritage européen. Dans les années nonante, la Suisse a apporté un soutien technique et financier à la Lettonie alors en phase de transition. Celle-ci compte parmi les pays bénéficiaires de la contribution suisse à la réduction des disparités économiques et sociales dans l’Union européenne (UE) élargie. Douze projets d’un montant total de 60 millions de francs doivent être mis en œuvre entre 2012 et 2017 dans le but de réduire ces disparités dans le pays.

Le relazioni tra la Svizzera e la Lettonia sono eccellenti. Durante il colloquio, il consigliere federale Burkhalter ha fatto presente le numerose affinità che legano i due Paesi, facendo particolare riferimento ai valori comuni e al patrimonio europeo. La Svizzera ha sostenuto la Lettonia durante il periodo di transizione negli anni Novanta fornendo aiuti tecnici e finanziari La Lettonia figura tra gli Stati beneficiari del contributo svizzero volto a ridurre le disparità economiche e sociali nell’UE allargata. In questo ambito specifico, tra il 2012 e il 2017 saranno realizzati dodici progetti per un ammontare complessivo di 60 milioni di franchi.
