Ek glo die meeste Christene weet slegs teologies van God se liefde vir hulle. Hulle het die Skrifverse oor liefde geleer en het dit gehoor verkondig word – en tog is hulle begrip beperk tot ‘n reël uit die kinders se koortjie: “Jesus min my salig lot, ek weet dit uit die Woord van God...”

I believe most Christians know about God's love for them only theologically. They have learned the Scriptures on love and have heard them preached — and yet their understanding is limited to a line from the children's chorus: "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so...."

Je crois que la plupart des chrétiens ne connaissent l'amour qu'a Dieu pour eux que théologiquement. Ils ont appris ce que dit l'Ecriture sur l'amour et l'ont entendu prêcher – et pourtant leur compréhension est limitée à une ligne de ce chant pour enfants : « Jésus m'aimes, ça je le sais, car la Bible me le dit... »

Saya percaya bahwa sebagian besar umat Kristiani mengetahui tentang kasih Allah untuk mereka hanya secara teologis. Mereka telah belajar Alkitab tentang kasih dan telah mendengar bahkan mereka mengajarkannya — namun pemahaman mereka masih terbatas seperti lagu sekolah minggu "Yesus sayang padaku, Alkitab mengajarkanku..."
