With the soloists and ensemble of the Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre Zagreb and Cantus Ensemble, under Berislav Šipuš's conducting, it will be once again performed - almost symbolic, on the half way between the last years 26th Music Biennale Zagreb, when it was premiered performed, and the next 27th Music Biennale Zagreb (6th -13th April 2013) – in the season of the Zagreb’s Croatian National Theatre: 31st March and 2nd, 4th and 7th April.

Balet Air nastao bliskom suradnjom suvremenog hrvatskog skladatelja Krešimira Seletkovića i švicarskog koreografa s amsterdamskom adresom Martina Müllera u izvedbi solista i ansambla Baleta HNK-a u Zagrebu te Cantus Ansambla pod ravnanjem Berislava Šipuša, gotovo simbolično, na pola puta između prošlog 26. Muzičkog biennala Zagreb, kada je praizveden, i idućeg 27. Muzičkog biennala Zagreb (6.4.- 13.4.2013.) možete pogledati na repertoaru zagrebačkog HNK-a; 31. ožujka u 18 sati, 2. i 4. travnja u 19.30 te 7. travnja u 18 sati.

A part of the album contains an occasional monograph including a list of all performances ever given by the ensemble since their foundation at the 2001 Music Biennale Zagreb with over one hundred compositions on their repertoire.

Unutar novog CD-a Cantus Ansambla predstavljeni su hrvatski skladatelji i njihovi opusi koji su obilježili programsku okosnicu i ideju vodilju - promicanje hrvatskog glazbenog stvaralaštva - kroz pet godina djelovanja ansambla. Dio izdanja je i prigodna monografija s popisom svih koncertnih nastupa ansambla s preko 100 izvedenih skladbi, od utemeljenja na Muzičkom biennalu Zagreb 2001. do travnja 2006.

It was not until the 21st edition of Music Biennale Zagreb, an international festival of contemporary music, which spans a period of forty years (since the festival was founded in 1961) marked by various forms of musical presentation and experiment, that the Cantus Ensemble, as a resident ensemble dedicated to the performance of modern music, came into being.

Međunarodni festival suvremene glazbe, Muzički biennale Zagreb tek je u svojem 21. izdanju i to nakon četrdeset godina (osnovan 1961.) prezentiranja i eksperimentiranja, proizveo stalni sastav - Cantus Ansambl, posvećen isključivo najrecentnijim glazbenim idejama. Do tada je biennalska potreba za nekonvencionalnim i fleksibilnim instrumentalnim postavima pogodnim da udovolje heterogenosti partitura i osobitosti skladateljskih zahtjeva, zadovoljavana uvijek nanovo uspostavljanjem rezidentnih ansambala.

Although very different in their musical activities, Krešimir Seletković and Frano Đurović, both experienced composers, professors at the Zagreb Music Academy and members of the Croatian Composers’ Society, have both been very much professionally and personally involved in our festival for years.

Iako vrlo različiti u svom glazbenom djelovanju, Krešimir Seletković i Frano Đurović, iskusni su skladatelji, profesori na Muzičkoj akademiji Sveučilišta u Zagrebu i članovi Hrvatskog društva skladatelja, a obojicu ih veže dugogodišnja ljubav i profesionalna te interesna vezanost uz naš festival. Obzirom da je do sada obnašao funkciju umjetničkog savjetnika, Seletković je već upoznat s radom na MBZ-u, dok Đurović iza sebe ima organizaciju i umjetničko vodstvo dviju uspješnih Tribina u Opatiji – mlađe sestre MBZ-a.

Prije nešto više od 40 godina, u vrijeme osnivanja festivala steirischer herbst i tinejdžerskih godina Muzičkog biennala Zagreb, umjetnička povezanost Jugoslavije, Austrije, Italije i ostalih zemalja regije bila je vrlo aktivna. Nažalost, u međuvremenu su se izmijenile društveno-političke prilike, kao i kulturno-umjetnička scena. Projekti su zaustavljeni, kontakti su se prekinuli, a umjetnici razišli. No, u zadnjih nekoliko godina Cantus Ansambl i Muzički biennale Zagreb počeli su zajednički stvarati novu mrežu partnera i glazbenih prijatelja, MREŽU ZA NOVU GLAZBU, unutar koje ansambli i festivali iz regije razmjenjuju skladatelje i njihova djela.

The museum was officially opened by Croatia's Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and by Milan Bandić, mayor of Zagreb, while Snježana Pintarić, director of MSU, and Božo Biškupić, minister of culture, welcomed the guests.

U petak 11. prosinca 2009. u 20.00 sati otvorena je dugo iščekivana nova zgrada Muzeja suvremene umjetnosti (http://www.msu.hr/) u Zagrebu. Svečanom otvorenju prisustvovali su mnogobrojni umjetnici i gosti iz zemlje i svijeta, a uzvanike su pozdravili te muzej otvorili Jadranka Kosor, predsjednica Vlade, Božo Biškupić, ministar kulture, Snježana Pintarić, ravnateljica MSU-a i Milan Bandić, gradonačelnik Zagreba.

In the first few years workshops were organized during the summer months on the island Vis and in Zagreb. The workshops were to be home to the work in progress by Croatian and international composers.

Prvih godina radionice su se održavale kroz ljetne mjesece u Visu i Zagrebu te su bile zamišljene kao work in progress hrvatskih i stranih skladatelja. No, od 2007. radionice se sele u Grožnjan - međunarodni kulturni centar Hrvatske glazbene mladeži - te se usmjeravaju prema mladim skladateljima i dirigentima.
