Switzerland supports the commission of the Human Rights Council established to investigate war crimes occurring in Syria. Carla Del Ponte, former attorney general of Switzerland and former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, is a member of the commission.

Prof. Lucius Caflisch has been a member of the Commission since 2006. On 17 November 2011, he was re-elected by the UN General Assembly for a second term. From 1998 to 2006, he was a judge for the Principality of Liechtenstein at the European Court of Human Rights.

Il professor Lucius Caflisch è membro della Commissione del diritto internazionale sin dal 2006. Il 17 novembre 2011 l’Assemblea generale dell’ONU l’ha rieletto per un ulteriore mandato. Tra il 1998 e il 2006 è stato giudice presso la Corte europea dei diritti dell’uomo per il Principato del Liechtenstein. In precedenza ha operato come consulente giuridico del DFAE e rappresentato la Svizzera nel quadro di numerosi importanti negoziati internazionali. Lucius Caflisch è stato professore di diritto internazionale in varie università, tra cui l’Institut universitaire des hautes études internationales di Ginevra, del quale è stato anche rettore dal 1984 al 1990.
