នៅ​ឆ្នាំ​១៩៩២ កម្ពុជាបាន​ផ្តល់​សច្ចាប័ន​​ លើ​អនុ​សញ្ញា​ ស្តី​ពី​ការ​លុប​បំបាត់​រាល់​ទម្រង់​នៃ​ការ​រើស​អើង​ប្រឆាំង​នារី​ភេទ CEDAW។ ច្បាប់​សិទ្ធិ​មនុស្ស​អន្តរជាតិនេះ រួម​មានមាត្រាមួយ​ចំនួន​ ដែល​សំដៅ​កាត់​បន្ថយ​ និង​លុប​បំបាត់​អំពើ​ហិង្សាចំពោះ​ស្ត្រី។ ដោយ​ការ​ផ្តល់​សច្ចាប័ន​នេះ កម្ពុជាបាន​ប្តេជ្ញាចិត្ត​របស់​ខ្លួន​ ចំពោះ​កិច្ច​ការពារ​ស្ត្រី​ កម្ពុជាឲ្យ​រួចផុតពី​អំពើ​ហិង្សា និង​លុប​បំបាត់​រាល់​ការរើស​អើង ប្រឆាំង​នឹង​នារី​ភេទ។​
