In the News - Strelka ...
It’s interesting to see how diverse the responses have been. Financial Times architecture critic Edwin Heathcote was measured in his recent Disegno review (not yet online). Heathcote welcomed the appearance of a digital publisher of the long form but found some of Strelka Press’ authors wanting, particularly Keller Easterling, who, “normally a fine writer, falls slightly flat with The Action is the Form”.
By way of illustrating the contrast in opinions, Will Wiles almost simultaneously described Easterling as «possibly the most important architectural theorist working today» and waxed lyrical on her Strelka title — «my advice is, make [The Action is the Form] your next stop, then buy her books. She knows what’s going on».

We knew about it even before it started to be built, I remember going there and watching as everything was being constructed bit by bit. I went to Koolhaas’ speech when he presented the first programme and it was interesting to see what the students would be doing.
I didn’t apply the first year because it was difficult to understand what would be the result of this educational programme. In fact, even after the final review it wasn’t very clear what would happen the second year. But it’s interesting to change your activities, have a rest: to rest is to change your occupation. Working a little and then studying a little.
  City Branding - Strelka...
Trying to deal with migration at a neighbourhood level when the issue is national doesn’t really work. We can’t replace high-level policies by neighbourhood policies, but it’s interesting to see where neighbourhood policies can be very useful.
The brand of this area has changed very much since the launch of the project. The media used to talk only about violence and poverty and migrants, but now they are mostly talking about tourism and creativity. But our project is one of a hundred that is being implemented in this area so it is really hard to tell which project made the change. In terms of place branding it is always difficult to estimate success or failure. So the people who pay for your work and who always want to know if you succeed or fail are often very disappointed.
