Il est souvent facile de deviner, mais attention: parfois le sens d’un mot est totalement faux! C’est le cas de adjust, qui rappelle notre «ajuster» mais signifie en revanche «s’adapter », «s’habituer».

Your guessed words often have completely different meanings, as is the case with adjust, which in spite of having a similar sound to “aggiustare” means “adattarsi”, “inserirsi”, “adeguarsi”. In English the correct word for “aggiustare”, meaning “riparare qualcosa di rotto”, is to fix.

Das ist z.B. bei adjust der Fall, das an unser “aggiustare“ (reparieren) erinnert, jedoch “adattarsi, inserirsi, adeguarsi“ (sich anpassen) bedeutet. „Aggiustare” im Sinne von “etwas Kaputtes reparieren” heisst auf Englisch to fix.
