The law provides for a mechanism to ensure that companies with explosives in their possession have a general explosives permit (R.S.Q., chapter E-22, section 11.1). Currently, the permit is issued to a representative of the company rather than to the company. Issuing a general permit to the company will hold Québec companies working in the explosives industry accountable, and thus help promote the public’s safety.
