Notre groupe a milité pour que l’agenda déclare que « les objectifs ne seront pas atteints s’ils ne sont pas atteints pour tous les groupes sociaux et économiques » – de sorte que, indépendamment de l’âge, du revenu, du sexe, du handicap, de la culture, de la race, de l’origine ethnique, du statut migratoire, ou de la religion ils soient tous atteints.

A key concern for Beyond 2015 was whether this agenda will meet its stated aim of ‘leaving no one behind’. Our group was pushing for the agenda to declare that “the targets will not be met unless met for all social and economic groupings” – so that regardless of age, income, gender, disability, culture, race, ethnicity, origin, migratory status, or religion all would be reached. In the end the text referenced “all peoples and all segments of society” – which human rights organisations have argued is better from a legal perspective – and pledged to reach the furthest behind first. A significant win for us.
