“dadada”: This was Mark Zuckerberg’s password for several different services, including Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn. Some genius tried reusing Zuckerberg’s password as discovered in the Great 2012 LinkedIn Hack. Tada: the Facebook boss’s Twitter and Pinterest accounts were hacked last Sunday. It bears repeating: to avoid looking like a Zuckerberg sucker, do not use such simple passwords as “dadada”. And especially don’t use the same password for all your accounts.

Rough week for Elon Musk. First Tesla revealed a cash crunch ahead of its merger with SolarCity (also having liquidity problems), sending shares in both tumbling. Then one of his SpaceX rockets blew up during a launch pad test, taking with it the satellite that Mark Zuckerberg's Internet.org was going to use to bring broadband to sub-Saharan Africa. Between the stock loss and putting up $489 million of his Tesla and SolarCity shares as collateral for personal borrowings, Bloomberg estimates, Musk saw his personal fortune shrink by $779 million on Thursday. Hebdomas horribilis…

Amazon will soon release the second version of its Fire TV, and it will be 75% more powerful than its predecessor, thanks to a MediaTek quad-core processor. The box will include 4K video support, which users can obtain from either Amazon Video or Netflix, providing their TV supports it, of course. The system will also come with the Echo vocal assistant Alexa, and a gamer-specific version will be available, with a Blue Tooth game controller ($140). Competition just got a little more fierce for the new Apple TV... $99.99, on October 5, pre-order from now. http://bit.ly/1P3gfEx

On the other hand, several industry titans pooh-pooh what they call “Elon’s crusade”, not least among them Larry Page, co-founder of Google and personal friend of Musk, who believes that AI will improve people’s lives. According to Page, “when human needs are more easily met, people will have more time with their family or to pursue their own interests.” Also on the optimists’ side is investor and activist Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal along with Musk, who believes that “Full AI, which refers to the intelligence of a hypothetical machine that simulates the full range of human cognitive abilities, is a long way off”. Finally, Mark Zuckerberg, who developed a valet robot named Jarvis to look after his home, has said, “If we slow down progress in deference to unfounded concerns, we stand in the way of real gains.”
