Working with schools in the Zürcher Oberland Region, we regularly organize workshops for young people. Using tailor-made concepts developed together with professional literary translators, these range from three-hour workshops to entire project weeks. We also offer further training for teachers.

Translation House Looren received the Max Geilinger Foundation Anniversary Award in 2012. Since then we have used this award money to fund the Max Geilinger Translation Grants. The foundation was set up in memory of the Zurich poet, dramatist and translator Max Geilinger (1884 —1948). It honours individuals and institutions working for cultural exchange between Switzerland and the Anglophone world.

In conjunction with schools in the Zürich Oberland region and professional translators, we organize regular translation workshops for young people, from three-hour workshops to entire project weeks. Led by an experienced translator, participants work on translating a YA novel or a short story from a foreign language into German. They learn how professionals translate and research, and gain an insight into the everyday work of literary translators in conversation with guests at Translation House Looren.
