The support for this project focused on potential energy saving options to reach the targets of the present Code of Conduct on Energy Consumption of Broadband Equipment. The study included the actual market development for external power supplies, the respective EU-regulation measures in preparation (Targets and measuring methods), the actual situation concerning the efficiency of DC/DC converters for voltage conversion on the PCB within the device and options for a reduction of power consumption TCP/IP ports. The main results of the study were arranged in a report that will be submitted to the Home Gateway Initiative (HGI). The prototype proposed could not be created because the components required were not available before the end of the project. Therefore, a measurement of the energy efficiency of the prototype was not possible.
