GIS NATURE is a geographic information system incorporating, under one system, the Italian fauna, flora and fungi checklists, the fauna and flora distribution databases, the existing data on marine biocoenoses, the distribution models of Italian vertebrates (REN), the distribution of priority habitats according to the Habitats Directive, the vegetation series (Corine Land Cover level 4), the phytoclimatic, ecopedological and landscape maps, the administrative cartography, the boundaries of parks and protected areas (including Special Protection Areas and Sites of Community Importance).

GIS NATURA è un sistema informativo territoriale che integra in un unico sistema le Checklist della fauna, della flora e dei funghi, i database di distribuzione faunistici e floristici, i dati sulle biocenosi marine, i modelli distributivi dei vertebrati italiani (REN), la distribuzione degli habitat prioritari della Direttiva "Habitat", le serie di vegetazione (Corine Land Cover IV livello), le mappe fitoclimatiche, ecopedologiche e paesaggistiche, accanto alle cartografie amministrative, alle perimetrazioni dei parchi e delle altre aree protette, dei Siti di Interesse Comunitario (SIC) e delle Zone di Protezione Speciale (ZPS). Il progetto è ultimato.
