Dubai Canal is the culmination of the dream of the father of modern Dubai, HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, to deepen the Dubai Creek in 1959 to facilitate marine navigation. The project required the diversion of existing utilities and key services, which occurred in parallel with the removal of earth bunds within the Business Bay section of the canal, and dredging up of the canal bed to reach the level of -4 to -6 meters, thereby allowing construction of the remaining sections of the quay wall.

Le canal de Dubaï est l’aboutissement d’un rêve du père de la Dubaï moderne, Son Altesse le Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, qui souhaitait approfondir la Crique de Dubaï en 1959 afin de faciliter la navigation maritime. Ce projet a impliqué la déviation de réseaux utilitaires et services clés, parallèlement à l’excavation de digues en terre dans la zone du canal liée au quartier Business Bay, ainsi qu’au dragage du lit du canal jusqu’à -4 à -6 mètres, afin de permettre la construction des sections restantes du mur de quai. Plus de 3,2 millions de mètres cubes de sol ont été dragués pour le canal, et 15.000 blocs de béton de 40 tonnes chacun ont été utilisés pour consolider les rives.
