  Abaty Glyn y Groes
Erbyn hyn, roedd y Sistersiaid wedi llacio eu trefn lem. Crëwyd ystafell gysurus wedi’i chynhesu ar gyfer yr abad. Serch hynny, ni pharhaodd y cyfoeth a’r lletygarwch newydd hwn yn hir. Diddymwyd Glyn y Groes gan archddyfarniad brenhinol yn 1537.
Far from an easy life, Valle Crucis Abbey suffered a serious fire and numerous attacks but went on to earn a reputation for its appreciation of the literary arts. In 1535 it was ranked the second richest Cistercian monastery after Tintern. By this time, the Cistercians had relaxed their orthodox austerity. A comfortable heated suite was created for the abbot. This new found wealth and hospitality didn’t last long. Valle Crucis was duly dissolved by royal decree in 1537.
  Map Hanes Cymru: Arglwy...
Fel cestyll eraill ar y ffin, mae hanes y Gelli’n hir a chythryblus. Castell mwnt a beili oedd y castell cyntaf yn y Gelli, a godwyd yn 1100 ar safle arall. Yn ail hanner y 12fed ganrif adeiladodd un o Arglwyddi’r Mers – William de Braose – y castell cyntaf o garreg.
As with the other border castles, Hay’s history is long and turbulent. The first Castle in Hay was a Motte and Bailey built in 1100 on a different site. In the latter half of the 12th Century Marcher lord – William de Braose – built the current castle from stone. The castle was captured and damaged by Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, the last prince of Wales, in 1233, only to be rebuilt by Henry III.  The town became more peaceful after Edward I’s successful campaigns in Wales.
  Castell Rhuddlan
Am ganrifoedd, bu Rhuddlan yn lleoliad strategol a welodd lawer o frwydrau gwaedlyd. Llwyddodd Edward i atal yr ymosodwyr yn ddigon hir i adeiladu castell cymesur cadarn gan ddefnyddio’r dechnoleg ‘muriau o fewn muriau’ ddiweddaraf.
For centuries, Rhuddlan had been a fiercely contested strategic location leading to much bloodshed. Edward’s muscle power triumphed long enough to build a muscle-bound symmetrical castle, showcasing the latest in ‘walls-within-walls’ technology. Edward I needed access to the sea to keep his castle supplied so he diverted the River Clwyd for over 2 miles (3.5km) to provide a deep-water channel for ships. The remains of a defended river gate still exist in the outer ring of the walls.

Wrth ymgymryd â’r cyfnod preswyl ym Mharc le Breos Cwm byddaf yn treulio cyfnod hir yn ymchwilio gan ddefnyddio’r hyn a ddysgir ac a ganfyddir fel arfau i gysylltu’r gymuned â chyd-destun hanesyddol y safle.
My approach to the residency at Parc le Breos Cwm will be to undertake a sustained period of research and use the things I learn and find out as tools to engage the community with the historical context of the site.
  Y Fflint
Mae gan y dref hanes hir a dynamig, a gellir gweld olion cyfnodau gwahanol yn glir yn nodweddion unigryw'r dref. Paratowyd yr astudiaeth hon i gefnogi Menter Treftadaeth Treflun a oedd yn canolbwyntio ar ganol y dref, ond mae'n rhoi cyflwyniad i gymeriad y dref gyfan, fel llinell sylfaen ar gyfer gweithgarwch cynllunio ac adfywio arall.
The town has a long and dynamic history, and different episodes are clearly displayed in the distinctive character of the town. This study was prepared to support a Townscape Heritage Initiative focussed on the town centre, but it provides an introduction to the character of the town as a whole, as a baseline for other planning and regeneration activity.
  Penfro — Deall Nodweddi...
Rhan o anheddiad caerog Normanaidd oedd y dref i gychwyn, gydag un stryd hir â lleiniau bwrdais canoloesol cul o’i phoptu. Mae rhai o’r adeiladau cynharaf ger y castell wedi goroesi hyd heddiw, eraill o’r golwg dan newidiadau diweddarach o bosib.
The town began as part of a Norman fortified settlement with one long main street bordered either side by narrow medieval burgage plots. Some of the earliest buildings survive near the castle and others may be hidden beneath later alterations. Their bare stonework is visible, but development of the early town from the Georgian period onwards has given Pembroke a character of coloured stucco and render, which reflects its rise in the eighteenth century from a neglected medieval town to a regional trading centre.
  Castell Oxwich
Wedi’i godi ar ffurf iard, rhoddodd Syr Rice borthdy ffug-filwrol i’w faenordy gydag arfbais y teulu wedi’i thorri mewn carreg. Aeth ei fab Edward ati i greu adain aml-lawr fwy mawreddog. Ychwanegwyd oriel hir gain – nodwedd ffasiynol yn oes Elisabeth – yn uchel, i fanteisio i’r eithaf ar y golygfeydd gwych o’r môr.
Built in courtyard style, Sir Rice gave his manor a mock-military gateway complete with the family’s coat of arms proudly cut in stone. His son Edward went on to create the much grander multi-storeyed range. An elegant long gallery – a fashionable Elizabethan feature – was added, positioned high up, taking full advantage of the panoramic sea views.
  Dinbych ganolfan ymwelw...
Mae hanes Dinbych yn hir a diddorol, o'i dechreuad fel llys tywysogion Gwynedd, drwy gyfnod adeiladu'r castell gan Henry de Lacy ddiwedd y drydedd ganrif ar ddeg, hyd at y gwarchae chwe mis o hyd yn ystod y Rhyfel Cartref.
Denbigh's story is long and fascinating, from its beginnings as a llys of the princes of Gwynedd, through the construction of the castle by Henry de Lacy in the late thirteenth century, right up to the six-month siege during the Civil War. New interpretation is installed to tell that story and to reveal the castle's complexity and sophistication as a palatial home as well as a mighty fortress. It also emphasises Denbigh's important place in the larger narratives identified in the all-Wales interpretation plans for The Princes of Gwynedd and The Castles and Town Walls of Edward I.
  Castell Dinbych
Fodd bynnag, ni fu’r gwaith yn hollol ddidrafferth. Cipiwyd y castell yn 1294 tra’r oedd yn cael ei adeiladu yn dilyn gwrthryfel Cymreig o dan arweiniad Madog ap Llywelyn, ond nid oedd yn hir cyn i Edward ailafael arno a pharhau â’r rhaglen adeiladu.
Henry de Lacy, one of the King’s loyal commanders, was given control of the area and had the task of building the new castle. He couldn’t go far wrong with the king’s master mason, James of St George, at his side. It wasn’t all plain sailing however. A Welsh rebellion, led by Madog ap Llywelyn, captured the partly-built castle in 1294 but Edward’s dominance and the castle-building programme were soon restored. You can see for yourself the two phases of building work. The post-rebellion work is marked by different colour stone, thicker curtain walls and a hint of Caernarfon-style angular towers.

  Siambr Gladdu Llwynelid...
Mae siambr gladdu Llwyneliddon yn fath o heneb a elwir yn garnedd hir siambrog ac yn wreiddiol byddai wedi'i gorchuddio â thwmpath o bridd, yn debyg i'r heneb gyfagos Llech y filiast. Er bod y siambr gerrig yn amlwg wrth i chi agosáu o'r ffordd, prin y gellir gweld gweddillion y garnedd - neu'r twmpath.
St Lythans is a type of monument known as a chambered long cairn and was originally covered by an earthen mound, probably similar to that found at its close neighbour, Tinkinswood. Although the stone chamber is conspicuous as you approach it from the road, the remains of the cairn – or mound – are barely discernible. It seems to have been about 24 metres (80 feet) long and 11 metres (35 feet) wide with the chamber occupying the eastern end. The chamber now consists of three upright stones with a capstone weighing up to 35 tonnes. How long it was used and who was buried here are questions that remain unanswered but finds of human remains and pottery recovered from the site some time before 1875 were recorded by the antiquarian, J. W. Lukis.
  Castell Conwy
Does dim lle parcio ar y safle ond mae maes parcio talu ac arddangos cyfnod byr ger y fynedfa. Mae maes parcio arhosiad hir 5 munud o daith gerdded ychydig y tu allan i furiau'r dref. Gall bysiau ollwng ymwelwyr ger y maes parcio arhosiad byr a pharcio yn y maes parcio arhosiad hir.
The site does not have on site parking however there is a short stay pay and display car park close to the entrance. A long stay car park is located 5 minutes walk away just outside the town walls. Coaches can drop off near to the short stay car park and park at the long stay car park.
  Siambr Gladdu Bryn Cell...
Wedi'i archwilio o ddifrif am y tro cyntaf yn 1865, cloddiwyd y bedd yn llwyr yn 1928-29. Yn ystod y cloddiadau, datgelwyd rhywfaint o hanes hir a chymhleth y safle.
First explored seriously 1865, the tomb was thoroughly excavated in 1928–29. The excavations revealed something of the long and complex history of the site.

Mae gan Gymru draddodiad hir o ffurfio cymdeithasau i astudio’r amgylchedd hanesyddol. Ym mis Chwefror 2014, comisiynodd Cadw Gyngor Gweithredu Gwirfoddol Cymru i ymgymryd â phrosiect ymchwil i ddeall iechyd a gweithgareddau cymdeithasau archaeolegol a dinesig a chymdeithasau cadwraeth.
Wales has a long tradition of forming societies to study the historic environment. In February 2014, Cadw commissioned the Wales Council for Voluntary Action to undertake a research project to understand the health and activity of archaeological, civic and conservation societies.

  Castell Rhaglan
Roedd yn taflu goleuni ar y bwrdd uchel ar esgynlawr y neuadd. Roedd gan Raglan oriel hir hefyd, un o nodweddion bywyd ffasiynol cyfnod y Tuduriaid.
It lit up the high table at the dais end of the hall. Raglan also boasted a long gallery, the very height of fashionable living in the Tudor period.

  De Orllewin
Safodd eglwys ar y safle hwn ers y 6ed ganrif, ac mae hanes hir ac amrywiol y gadeirlan a welir heddiw yn eithriadol o ddiddorol. Sefydlwyd yr addoldy gan Ddewi Sant ei hun, ond dinistriwyd rhannau o’r adeilad dros y blynyddoedd am wahanol resymau, cyn cael eu hadfer gan arbenigwyr cadwraeth.
A church has been standing on this site since the 6th century, and the long and varied history of the cathedral seen today is fascinating. Founded by Saint David himself, parts of the building have over the years been destroyed for various reasons, before being restored by conservation experts.
