If a contractor wishes to amend any part of these schedules, they must submit a contractual change request to the Authority setting out the change in detail and the reasons why including regard to the relevant legal and BAI policy requirements. Any change to these schedules requires prior approval of the Authority.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has today (Tuesday 3rd July) announced the signing of three community and community of interest sound broadcasting contracts. The services comprise of community radio service Tipperary Mid-West Radio, serving South West Tipperary; Raidió Corca Baiscinn, serving South West Clare; and a community of interest service for the Christian community of Cork City, Life FM.

The BAI conducts performance reviews generally every other year with each broadcasting contractor to review the performance of that station in six main areas of operation (including ownership & control; management & staffing; finance; programming; and, technical & studios); to discuss the results of any compliance processes; and, to discuss any future plans.

In February 2010, it was necessary for the Authority to approve a number of cost cutting measures to ensure the viability of iRadio NW and of the regional youth broadcasting service in the North East / Midlands franchise area (where the current contractor is iRadio North East and Midlands Limited, trading as iRadio NEM). This included approving the co-location of both services, the sharing of staff and the introduction of a single programme schedule.  Further to this, it was necessary for the Authority to approve further integration of the services and a reduction in staffing levels during 2011 so that the two services were effectively authorised to operate on an integrated and shared basis for the remainder of the current broadcasting contracts.
