Afterwards minister Tuomioja talked with his Kosovar colleague Enver Hoxhaj. The ministers looked back to their meeting in Helsinki last October. The core of the discussion was the end of Kosovo’s supervised independence and the challenges it brings, as well as Kosovo’s EU-approximation. Tuomioja met also Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, Minister of European Integration Vlora Citaku and Deputy Prime Minister Slobodan Petrovic. Thaci described Tuomioja the integration plan for Northern Kosovo. Tuomioja expressed Finland's support to the international status of Kosovo and its social development after ceasing of controlled independence. He also reaffirmed Finland's support to Kosovo's EU approximation and the continuing of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

The speakers of the launching event, Ms. Anne Meskanen, Chargée d’Affaires of the Embassy, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Ms. Alessandra Roccasalvo, the deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Ms. Rita Hajzeraj-Beqaj and Mr. Hafiz Leka, Head of the Division for Employment Policy with Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, highlighted the importance of inclusive employment services and the skills training of the jobseekers. In her speech Ms. Meskanen stated that the goal of the Finnish development cooperation is to enhance economic development in Kosovo, especially through creating jobs. The employment services must take all Kosovars into account and additional efforts are needed to enhance young adults' and disadvantaged groups' entry to the labour market.  Moreover, the employment services must be able to combinethe skills of the jobseekers and the needs of the employers.

The laws regarding sexual minorities in Kosovo are very progressive in comparison to the developmental stage of the country. The Kosovo constitution and the anti-discrimination law forbid discrimination based on sexual orientation. In addition the constitution also states that everyone enjoys the right to marry. The problem is rather the negative attitudes of the judiciary and health care professionals, the poor implementation of the laws and deficient mechanisms for reporting offences.

They also discussed human rights with particular emphasis on the fate of the missing persons and bringing justice to the women who have suffered as victims of war. The Kosovo Constitution and the Kosovo’s Anti-Discrimination Law forbid discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation. The Law was amended recently by including the grounds of gender identity benefitting transgender persons as well. In addition, since 2013 Kosovo Government has adopted a decision to establish an advisory and coordinating group for the rights of LGBTI community. This group serves as a mechanism for Kosovo institutions intending to protect and promote human rights of the LGBTI community. Despite these progressive moves, a lot remains to be done in this realm.

Vaikka seksuaalivähemmistöt ovat hiljalleen saamassa lisää näkyvyyttä asialleen, transsukupuolisen väestön yhteiskunnalliseen tunnustamiseen on edelleen matkaa. CSGD onkin päättänyt tarttua toimeen edistääkseen myös transsukupuolisten ihmisoikeuksia. Toimintaa laajennetaan myös alueellisesti, jotta Kosovon pohjoisosien HLBT-yhteisökin saadaan tuen piiriin.

The persistent efforts of the Embassy toward improving the lives of LGBTI community in Kosovo are continuing. While gays and lesbians are slowly gaining more visibility thanks to above mentioned activities, the trans-genders are far from being socially acknowledged. Ministerit muistelivat viime vuoden lokakuista tapaamistaan Helsingissä. Keskusteluiden ydin oli Kosovon valvotun itsenäisyyden päättyminen, sen tuomat haasteet sekä Kosovon EU-lähentyminen. Tuomioja tapasi myös pääministeri Hashim Thacin, Euroopan integraatioministeri Vlora Citakun ja varapääministeri, paikallishallinnon ministeri Slobodan Petrovicin.

Afterwards minister Tuomioja talked with his Kosovar colleague Enver Hoxhaj. The ministers looked back to their meeting in Helsinki last October. The core of the discussion was the end of Kosovo’s supervised independence and the challenges it brings, as well as Kosovo’s EU-approximation. Tuomioja met also Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, Minister of European Integration Vlora Citaku and Deputy Prime Minister Slobodan Petrovic. Thaci described Tuomioja the integration plan for Northern Kosovo. Tuomioja expressed Finland's support to the international status of Kosovo and its social development after ceasing of controlled independence. He also reaffirmed Finland's support to Kosovo's EU approximation and the continuing of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

Senare under dagen samtalade ministern med sin kollega, Kosovos utrikesminister Enver Hoxhaj samt premiärminister Hashim Thaci, ministern för europeisk integration Vlora Citaku och vice premiärminister Slobodan Petrovic. Diskussionen handlade framför allt om Kosovos internationella ställning och samhälleliga utveckling efter att den internationella övervakningen av landets självständighet upphör. Minister Tuomioja uttryckte också Finland's stöd för Kosovos EU-närmande och dialogen med Serbien.

Kosovon perustuslaki sekä Kosovon syrjinnän vastainen laki kuitenkin kieltävät sukupuoleen tai seksuaaliseen suuntautumiseen perustuvan syrjinnän. Viimeaikaisen lakimuutoksen myötä laki huomio myös transsukupuolisten oikeudet ja kieltää sukupuoli-identiteettiin perustuvan syrjinnän.

The Kosovo Constitution and the Kosovo’s Anti-Discrimination Law forbid discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation. The Law was amended recently by including the grounds of gender identity benefitting transgender persons as well. In addition, since 2013 Kosovo Government has adopted a decision to establish an advisory and coordinating group for the rights of LGBTI community. This group serves as a mechanism for Kosovo institutions intending to protect and promote human rights of the LGBTI community. Despite these progressive moves, a lot remains to be done in this realm.
