The lesser coat of arms of Istočno Sarajevo is gules a cross gyronny argent of azure and argent between in first and fourth a double headed eagle displayed of the third armed, legged and lampased or and second and third a castle triple turetted and cranelated the central higher then the lateral gates of the field. The middle arms is the shield within a golden laurel wreath topped with a golden masoned crown with diadem and four embattlements. The greater arms has the shield topped with the same crown, supporters St. Michael Archangel and St. Gabriel Archangel, clad as roman warriors, with wings displayed, the first holding an upright sward, the second an upright sabre, each holding a flag staff, the first with the flag of Srpska, the second with the flag of Istočno Sarajevo, standing on a grassy compartment above a white ribbon inscribed with the city name. The tripe towered castle is the coat of arms of Pavlović family, medieval lords of the region in which Sarajevo was latter built. The golden crown with diadem indicate the capital city. The flag is a simplified banner of arms: gules a cross gyronny of azure and argent.
