A debt-collection procedure in Turkey consists roughly of two sections. The first is an amicable settlement, which involves locating and investigating the debtor and contacting him to try to reach an agreement in an informal way. The second part of the debt-collecting procedure involves going to court to settle the debt. (Please notice that according to the regulations in Turkey, only lawyers are eligible to represent creditors in debt collection procedures, and act on behalf of clients in legal process and litigation. Any legal transaction, agreement, and action that are made by companies on behalf of creditors are per se null and void. That is, any of those transactions, agreements, and actions is not able to legally bind opposite parties to disputes.)
