In Gebouw Anton is een mooie gelaagdheid zichtbaar van oude en nieuwe elementen. Bij de transformatie van de voormalige fabriek tot woongebouw zijn de sporen uit het verleden zoveel mogelijk bewaard gebleven.

Beautiful layers of old and new elements are visible in Building Anton. Traces of the past were retained as much as possible during the transformation from former factory to residential building. The original concrete floors, walls and columns were jet cleaned and kept visible, which brings character to the different rooms. The new interior finish, the greyish green and the use of wood reinforce this character.

De woningen hebben een voortuin óf een dakterras van 10 m2. Laké vervolgt: “Vanuit de voordeur sta je direct in de woonkamer. Het zijn mooie compacte woningen voor starters met een beperkt budget. Voor de 48 woningen hadden we dan ook 130 inschrijvingen.”

The first homes for youth had a different background. Laké: “It involved locations with limited construction space surrounding the Loekemanstraat in Den Bosch. The demolition of some dwellings freed up small construction sites.” Diederendirrix designed a new housing type for starters, back-to-back per eight in a block.The houses either have a front garden or a 10 m2 roof terrace. Laké continues: “The front door opens straight into the living room. These are nice and compact houses for starters with a limited budget. That’s why we received 130 applications for 48 houses.”

“Het mooie van het gebouw is dat verschillende groepen er naast elkaar bewegen. Geen enkele groep claimt de ruimte en wanneer mensen willen samenwerken zoeken ze elkaar op. Hiphoppers, gabbers, metalheads en ook jonge moeders voelen zich lekker in het gebouw. Een discussiepunt blijft het rood van het atrium, maar bij gebrek aan een goed alternatief hebben ook de metalheads het geaccepteerd.”

“Before Dynamo moved into this building in 2005, it was mainly focused on marginalised young people. That’s why the building is shithead proof, transparent and without any frills.” Nancy van Loon explains, “Now we are here for everyone. The nice thing about the building is that different groups move alongside each other. There isn’t a single group that claims space and when people want to work together they approach each other. Hiphoppers,  lovers of Hardcore, metalheads but also young mothers feel at ease in the building. The red of the atrium remains a point of discussion, but also the metalheads have accepted it for lack of a good alternative.”
