  Egypt's Glory in Europe...
The Egyptian Museum in Turin, Italy, founded in 1824, is among the most important collections of Egyptian art outside of Cairo. Its treasures include the famous contents, discovered intact, from the Tomb of Kha. This is the first Italian state museum to be privatized (2005) with remarkable results. It is one of the most dynamic museums in Italy and is now ranked as the 9th most visited one (and 93rd in the world). Since taking over as Director in 2005, New Yorker and NYU Institute of Fine Arts graduate Dr. Eleni Vassilika has undertaken several reinstallations of the exhibition and is now planning a major renovation of the entire historic palace that houses the collection, while still maintaining public access. This lecture is part of Dr. Vassilika's mission to make this magnificent collection better known.
