When an unaccompanied foreign minor is registered in Belgium, a guardian is assigned to him/her by the Guardianship Service. When the Immigration Service or other authorities have doubts on the minor’s age, the Guardianship Service commissions an age determination test. This medical test (a triple radiograph of the teeth, collarbone and wrist) takes place in a hospital designated by the Guardianship Service.

This brochure (published: June 2011) is intended for female applicants for international protection and contains information on the asylum procedure. Other specific themes such as health, equality between men and women, human trafficking,… are also dealt with in detail. The brochure is not digitally available. The Immigration Office hands this brochure to every female applicant, girl or woman, at the start of the asylum procedure.

Ces personnes peuvent demander un visa pour regroupement familial auprès du poste diplomatique belge du pays où se trouvent les membres de la famille. L’OE traite ensuite la demande.

When someone applies for asylum at the Immigration Office (IO), the IO registers the identity data (name, first name, date of birth, place of birth…) in the waiting register. Next, the asylum seeker receives an annex 25/26 (asylum application at the border / on Belgian territory). The identity data are mentioned on this annex. It is possible that errors creep into the annex. Under certain conditions, wrong identity data can be corrected. The procedure differs depending on the status (asylum seeker / recognised refugee / beneficiaries of subsidiary protection).
