Roedd fy ngyrfa wedi cyrraedd rhyw fan lle, er mwyn mynd â'm cynlluniau i'r lefel nesaf, roedd angen peth amser yn rhydd o'r ymrwymiadau beunyddiol wrth gynnal busnes er mwyn canolbwyntio ar y themâu allweddol a fu'n ysbrydoli fy ngwaith ac i wthio ffiniau fy ngallu.
'Even though I had been successful with my collections, I had felt for some time a great frustration within my own creativity because of the lack of finance and time available to explore my ideas properly. My career had reached a point where, in order to take my designs to the next level I needed some time out from the everyday commitments of running a business to focus on the key themes which inspired my work and to push the boundaries within my own ability.

Mae’r gyfrol hardd wedi’i dylunio gan yr artist Rhys Aneurin. Enillydd y categori Ffeithiol Greadigol yw Llŷr Gwyn Lewis gyda Rhyw Flodau Rhyfel (Y Lolfa). Dyma lyfr am hanes, rhyfel a theithio sy’n blethiad hyfryd o ffaith a ffuglen â’i ganolbwynt ar y cof a sut yr ydym ni’n coffáu.
Paul Henry said on behalf of the English-language judging panel: "The stylistic quality of this brilliant, lyrical memoir is best described through a simile from the book where a bracelet of water "doesn’t run over the stones but flexes like clear muscle over its riverbed." It’s a poet’s prose at its best – perfectly paced, effortless in its devices. Tender, humorous, moving and, in places, profound, Other People’s Countries reminds us how great writing approaches the essence of Memory."

"Roeddwn i'n un o actorion craidd Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru am ddwy flynedd pan sefydlwyd y cwmni gyntaf, ac mae'n fraint cael gweithio gyda’r cwmni eto ddeng mlynedd yn ddiweddarach. Byth ers i mi gael fy nghyfareddu wrth ddarllen Blodeuwedd yn fy arddegau, rydw i wedi gobeithio'n ddistaw bach y byddwn i rhyw ddiwrnod yn cael y cyfle i chwarae'r rhan. Rydw i ond gobeithio y gallaf wneud cyfiawnder â hi."
"I was one of the original actors of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru during its first two years, and it’s an honour to be working with the company again ten years onwards. Since reading Blodeuwedd as a teenager and being charmed by the words and story, I’ve been secretly hoping that I would, one day, have the chance to play the main part, and I just hope I can do it justice."

Gall tincian hefyd olygu 'atseinio’... mae’n debyg i gloch eich atgofion, y sŵn yn y meddwl sy’n cael ei ddeffro gan ‘hen bethau anghofiedig’. Byddai wedi cael ei ddefnyddio hefyd mewn ymadroddion fel ‘ma na rhyw *dincian ymhlith y bobol’ (‘Mae ‘na si ymysg y bobl’).
Tincian can also mean 'to resonate’...it's like the bell of your memories, the sound in your mind that awakens to things forgotten. It would have also been used in sentences like ‘ma na rhyw *dincian ymhlith y bobol’ (‘There is a murmur amongst the people’). That kind of whisper, that fear or excitement of a (bad) report amongst the people like a wave of noise."

Llŷr is from Caernarfon, and is a lecturer in Welsh at Academi Hywel Teifi, Swansea University. He has won Urdd Eisteddfod Chairs at Llanerchaeron (2010) and Swansea (2011). This year Llŷr has published two books - his first collection of poems, Storm ar Wyneb yr Haul, published by Cyhoeddiadau Barddas and prose book Rhyw Flodau Rhyfel, published by Y Lolfa. Llŷr is looking forward to producing a new body of work for the challenge, and is slightly concerned that he won’t be able to stop when the day ends.

Meddai Swyddog Datblygu Noson Allan, Hilary Farr: "Mae hon yn berl o sioe – doniol, ecsentrig ac un sy’n codi calon ar ddiwedd y dydd. Ni honnaf y byddai’r sioe yn gweddnewid eich bywyd, ond mae’n bosibl! Ond gobeithio y bydd yn newid y ffordd y gwelwn anabledd. Disgrifia Jackie sut yn aml yn y newyddion ceir pobl anabl sydd wedi ‘goresgyn llu o anawsterau’ i gyflawni rhyw gamp – a ddefnyddir wedyn gan y cyfryngau (yng ngeiriau Jackie) yn ‘bornograffi ysbrydoli’. Night Out Development Officer Hilary Farr states "This is a gem of a show, hilarious and slightly eccentric but ultimately uplifting, I’m not saying that it will change your life, but it might! It hopefully will however make some changes to how we view disability. Jackie describes how often disabled people in the news are those who have "overcome the odds" to do something extraordinary - used in her own words as "inspiration porn". She points out that "not all of us want to be Paralympians! We just want to carry on. That’s not brave, it’s necessary".

Mae’n galluogi iddo rannu â’i gynulleidfa y modd y mae cof a phrofiad yn ei gynorthwyo i ddod i delerau â rhyw fath o ddychwelyd adref. Bydd y ffaith bod y gwaith yn ymuno â chasgliadau cenedlaethol Amgueddfa Cymru yn galluogi iddo gael ei ddangos yn y dyfodol, i nifer o bobl eraill. Bydd yn tyfu’n gymhariaeth ar y cyd o deithiau personol i, ac o Gymru."
Mike Tooby, Director of Learning, Programmes and Development at Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales added: "This piece represents an extraordinary journey for John Cale. Through it he shares with his audiences the way memory and experience helps him come to terms with a kind of return home. By the work joining the national collections at Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales, it can continue to be offered in the future, to many others. It will become a shared comparison of personal journeys to and from Wales."

"Gobeithio bydd pobl yn dod i glywed drostynt eu hunain pa mor wych yw cerddoriaeth siambr gan berfformwyr a chyfansoddwyr o Gymru. Mae Gareth Glyn a Chris Painter wedi ysgrifennu dau ddarn o gerddoriaeth anhygoel i ni. Mae'r ddau yn cael eu hysbrydoli mewn rhyw ffordd gan chwedlau Cymreig. Mae darn Gareth yn wirioneddol ymestyn pob un o'r 16 perfformiwr, heb sôn am yr her y mae'n ei roi i ni fel grŵp, o chwarae ar y cyd heb arweinydd; rhywbeth yr ydym ni wrth ein bodd yn ei wneud. "I hope people will come to hear for themselves how brilliant chamber music is and to here it being made here in Wales by its performers and composers. Gareth Glyn and Chris Painter have written two amazing pieces of music for us. Both are inspired in some way by Welsh legend and myth. Gareth’s piece really stretches each one of the 16 performers not to mention the challenge it gives us as a group of performing together without conductor which we all relish. Chris’ music for solo clarinet asks for and gets some amazing acrobatics from the Ensemble’s Ambassador for New Music Sioned Roberts. "

Dywedodd cyfarwyddwr Henry VI, Yvonne Murphy: "Rwyf wrth fy modd o fod yn ôl a chael cyfle rhyfeddol ar ôl llynedd i greu rhagflaenydd i Richard III, ochr yn ochr â phrosiect ymgysylltu â chynulleidfaoedd sy’n torri tir newydd. Sefydlwyd Omidaze yn unswydd i ddefnyddio theatr i rymuso, hysbysu, diddanu cynulleidfaoedd newydd, ysgwyd ac ysbrydoli newid. Rwy’n credu’n angerddol ei fod yn hawl sylfaenol i bob dinesydd Prydeinig gael mynediad i’r celfyddydau. Mae’r celfyddydau a diwylliant yn perthyn i bawb fel y mae ein hadeiladau diwylliannol. I bwy mae Shakespeare yn perthyn, pam a ble y dylai a gellir ei lwyfannu? Os yw’r cynhyrchiad yma yn gymorth i rywun i deimlo fod ganddyn nhw’r hawl i theatr, Shakespeare a’r celfyddydau’n gyffredinol, yn agor drws i Shakespeare i ragor o bobl a newid persbectif ynghylch stereoteipio ar sail rhyw ac anghydraddoldeb, rydyn ni wedi llwyddo."
Director of Henvy VI, Yvonne Murphy, has said: "I am absolutely delighted to be back and to have been given this amazing opportunity to create the prequel to last year’s Richard III alongside a ground-breaking audience engagement project. Omidaze was founded with the express purpose of using theatre to empower, inform, entertain new audiences, shake stuff up and inspire change. I believe passionately that access to arts and culture is a fundamental right of every British citizen and that the arts and Culture belong to everyone as do our cultural buildings. Who is Shakespeare for anyway and how, why and where should it and can it be staged? If this production helps one more person feel like they have a right to theatre, Shakespeare and the arts generally, opens a door to Shakespeare for just a few more people and shifts perspective just a little around gender stereotyping and inequality then we have succeeded."

The theme of Care and Community, in a year that sees the National Health Service celebrating its 70th birthday, offers us an opportunity to place centre stage a range of issues that affect each and every one of us in one way or another. It also allows us to celebrate the bravery of those in our communities who have to deal with challenging conditions on a daily basis, and the un-sung heroes who care for them and love them. New writing is key to this year’s programme, and we’re extremely pleased to support emerging professional writers and theatre makers and those who need support to take their next steps, not only in our productions but also by way of our ambitious new venture, Theatr Gen Creu. Female theatre-makers are also put centre stage in this year which marks the centenary of British women’s victory to secure the right to vote. We look forward to working with our many partners and to sharing this varied programme with our audiences in 2018 – projects that reflect the hive of activity and the treasure trove of talent that underpins the Welsh-language theatre sector today and in the future.
