This is not a signal for dimming, but a system to automate/control various utilities; its name derives from the fact that it connects various devices through a bipolar cable referred to as BUS, which transfers the encoded information to the technical devices, according to modes called protocols, through the use of actuators and interfaces.

Il ne s’agit pas d’un signal de variation de lumière mais d’un système permettant d’automatiser/commander les différents appareils; il est appelé de la sorte parce qu’il relie plusieurs dispositifs par le biais d’un câble bipolaire appelé BUS, qui transfère les informations codées aux dispositifs techniques, selon des modalités appelées protocoles, en utilisant des actionneurs et une interface. Le protocole le plus répandu est le KN (Konnex).

Kein Dimmsignal, sondern ein System zur Automatisierung/ Steuerung der verschiedenen Anwendungen; es wird so genannt, weil es verschiedene Vorrichtungen mit einem zweipoligen Kabel verbindet, das auch BUS genannt wird, welches, gemäß im Protokoll genannten Verfahrensweisen mittels Verwendung von Aktoren und Schnittstellen, die kodi zierten Informationen zu den technischen Vorrichtungen über- trägt. Das am weitesten verbreitete Protokoll ist das KNX (Konnex).
