In the mornings, there is too little time to produce a human translation between the arrival of the data from the field and the publication of the bulletin. For this reason, the morning regional bulletin was issued in the past only in one language. The danger descriptions are now being updated in four languages not only in the evenings (at 5 pm), but also in the mornings (at 8 am). This has been made possible by the development of a catalogue of standard phrases and a fully automatic translation procedure.

Die Wissenschaftler aus Davos treffen zusammen mit internationalen Gästen aus Österreich, Frankreich und Spanien am Vorabend der Lawinensprenung in Sion ein. Der lokale SLF-Experte informiert über die Lage und gemeinsam diskutieren sie die geplante Sprengung und die nötgen Sicherheitsmassnahmen. Nach einer kurzen Nacht begeben sich die Teammitglieder zu den verschiedenen Beobachtungs- und Sicherheitsposten, um das Experiment vorzubereiten. Während das Feldteam die Kameras bereitstellt, wird vom Helikopter aus per Laser die Schneeverteilung im Hang ermittelt. Diese Information ist unbedingt nötig, um die Massenbilanz der Lawine zu kennen: man will wissen, wie viel Schnee angerissen ist und wie viel Schnee die Lawine auf ihrem Weg mitgerissen hat. Gleichzeitig überprüfen die SLF-Wissenschaftler im Bunker das Datenerfassungssystem. Mit diesem System können die Messungen von etwa 100 Sensoren mit Erfassungsraten bis zu 20 kHz während vier Minuten aufgezeichnet werden. Dabei entsteht eine Datenmenge von ungefähr einem Gigabyte.

In der Übergangszeit vom Herbst in den Winter (typischerweise Ende November bis Anfang Dezember) und vom Frühjahr in den Sommer (typischerweise Ende April bis Anfang Mai) wird das Lawinenbulletin nur abends herausgegeben. Format und Inhalt sind gleich wie im Winter. Das Lawinenbulletin kann mehrere Tage gültig sein, am letzen Gültigkeitstag jeweils bis um 17 Uhr.

Durante i periodi di transizione, cioè tra l’autunno e l’inverno (solitamente dalla fine di novembre all’inizio di dicembre) e tra la primavera e l’estate (solitamente dalla fine di aprile all’inizio di maggio), il bollettino delle valanghe viene pubblicato solo alla sera. Il formato e i contenuti sono identici a quelli del periodo invernale. Il bollettino delle valanghe può essere valido per diversi giorni, in questo caso fino alle ore 17:00 dell’ultimo giorno di validità.
