Ja hän pani maata vuoteellensa, käänsi kasvonsa pois eikä syönyt mitään. Niin hänen vaimonsa Iisebel tuli hänen luokseen ja puhui hänelle: "Miksi olet niin pahoilla mielin ja miksi et syö mitään?" He rent his clothes and he walked for a while in humility. God called it repentance, "See how Ahab humbles himself before me" (1 Kings 21:29). From that day on he could look back and say, "Repentance? Yes. Under the preaching of that great prophet of God, Elijah, in my garden at Jezreel..." To him it was a one-time experience, not a daily walk. It did not last very long. The problem was that he had made a covenant with the world. He was in agreement with sin. He had become a brother and friend to the world. "Brother" here means "affinity, one just like me, one I respect." He was in covenant with what God had cursed. And so today there is a shallow, yet true, repentance. But you will go back if you do not break your covenant with the world.

Tuosta päivästä lähtien hän saattoi katsoa takaisin ja sanoa, Katumus? Kyllä. Tuon Jumalan suuren profeetan, Elian, saarnasta, puutarhassani Jisreelissä... Hänelle se oli kertakokemus, ei päivittäistä elämää. Se ei kestänyt kauaa. Ongelma oli se, että hän teki liiton maailman kanssa. Hän ei vastustanut syntiä. Hänestä oli tullut maailman veli ja ystävä. Veli tarkoittaa tässä samanmielisyys, minun kaltaiseni, joku, jota kunnioitan. Hän oli liitossa sen kanssa, minkä Jumala oli kironnut. Ja niin myös tänä päivänä, on olemassa pintapuolista, kuitenkin todellista katumusta. Mutta tulet palaamaan takaisin, ellet riko liittoasi maailman kanssa!

Eine unmerkliche, anziehende Benommenheit in deinem Geist wird beginnen und sie wird dich zur Lauheit wenden.“

They begin to doubt the Word; they are suspicious of other ministers and won't take godly reproof now! Not only has the minister been cut off from the flow of Christ's life from the vine — he has disturbed that flow of life that once flowed so freely to all those connected to him. He is now a minister of death. He is barren and his life is no longer bringing praise and glory to the Father. Everywhere he turns, there is death and decay. He may repent and be restored, but he cannot reclaim all those other precious little branches he destroyed.

Die geestelike dood in pa, het sy bose krag deur die hele familie versprei. Die gemeente ontslaan hom en gaan verder deur hul geestelike waaksaamheid te verslap. Hulle begin om die Woord te betwyfel; hulle is agterdogtig oor ander bedienaars en wil nou nie goddelike teregwysing aanneem nie! Nie net is die bedienaar afgesny van die stroom van Christus se lewe van die wynstok nie – hy het die stroom van lewe wat eens so vrylik gevloei het na almal wat aan hom verbind was, afgesny. Hy is nou ‘n bedienaar van dood. Hy is droog en sy lewe bring nie langer lof en eer aan die Vader nie. Oral waarheen hy hom wend, is daar dood en verdorwenheid. Hy mag homself bekeer en herstel word, maar hy kan nie al daar die kosbare klein lootjies wat hy vernietig het, terugkry  nie.

Pero Jezabel no fue impresionada. Al contrario, fue más endurecida.
