  Cestyll cloddwaith
Fe’u hadeiladwyd drwy ddefnyddio deunyddiau oedd wrth law - coed a phridd. Dewiswyd safleoedd yn ofalus a chynlluniwyd cestyll i roi’r fantais fwyaf posibl i amddiffynwyr yn erbyn ymosodwyr. Gallai lluoedd bach o ddynion fod yn garsiwn iddynt ond, mewn cyfnodau o angen, gallent gynnwys niferoedd fwy o filwyr.
It was important to build the castles quickly. They built with materials to be found close at hand – timber and earth. Sites were chosen carefully and castles designed to give defenders the maximum advantage over attackers. They could be garrisoned by small forces of men yet, in time of need, could accommodate larger numbers of troops.

Mae Comisiwn Brenhinol Henebion Cymru hefyd yn gyfrifol am reoli Cymru Hanesyddol, sef y porth sy'n defnyddio mapiau i roi gwybodaeth am yr amgylchedd hanesyddol yng Nghymru. Mae'r porth hwn yn fodd i chwilio miloedd ar filoedd o gofnodion sy'n ymwneud â henebion archeolegol, adeiladau hanesyddol ac arteffactau a ddelir gan wahanol sefydliadau ledled Cymru, a hynny i gyd ar yr un pryd.
The RCAHMW is also responsible for managing Historic Wales, the map enabled portal for historic environment information in Wales. This portal allows simultaneous searching of hundreds of thousands of records relating to archaeological monuments, historic buildings and artefacts held by different organisations across Wales.
  Gwarchod

  Cynllun Grantiau Mentra...
Gall Cadw roi grantiau i sefydliadau gwirfoddol i godi placiau er cof am bobl neu i ddynodi mannau hanesyddol. Nid oes cynllun placiau glas ar waith, fel yn Lloegr, ond fel rhan o'i Gynllun Grantiau Mentrau Dinesig (Treftadaeth) mae Cadw yn cynorthwyo sefydliadau lleol sy'n ymgymryd â phrosiectau sy'n gwella dealltwriaeth a gwerthfawrogiad o'r amgylchedd hanesyddol.
Cadw can make grants to voluntary organisations for plaques to commemorate historic places or people. There is no dedicated blue plaque scheme, such as in England, but as part of its Civic Initiatives (Heritage) Grants scheme Cadw supports local organisations undertaking projects that enhance understanding and appreciation of the historic environment.

  Castell Arberth
Mae'r castell pasio i mewn i reolaeth y Marsialiaid o 1199 er nad oes cofnod o unrhyw welliannau yn ystod y cyfnod hwn. Yn 1220, anogodd Harri III marchogion a dynion am ddim drwy gydol y arglwyddiaeth i roi pob cymorth i William i'r iau i atgyweirio ddau Arberth a Chas-wis.
A ruined fortress first mentioned in 1116, Narberth owes much of its continued popularity by its inclusion in the Mabinogion Welsh folk tales. It is the original motte and bailey castle which would have been known to the Marshal family which was thought to have been built by Sir Andrew Perrot (b1130) although this theory has been ‘debunked’ by historian Roger Turvey. The castle passed into the control of the Marshals from 1199 although there is no record of any improvements during this time. In 1220, Henry III exhorted knights and free men throughout the lordship to give every assistance to William the Younger to repair both Narberth and Wiston. However, it wasn’t until 1246, at which time the castle had passed to William’s eldest daughter Eva as the male line had died out the previous year, when building work began in earnest. Eva had married William de Braose, Lord of Abergavenny, and their daughter Maud, in turn, married into the Mortimer family, bringing Narberth to the marriage as part of her dowry. The keep is said to have been started in 1246 with the remaining towers being added toward the latter half of the 1200s.

  Cynllun Grantiau Mentra...
Mae Cadw yn cynnal cynllun grantiau i helpu sefydliadau gwirfoddol i hyrwyddo gwell dealltwriaeth o'u treftadaeth leol, sef y Cynllun Grantiau Mentrau Dinesig (Treftadaeth). Yr uchafswm grant — y mae'n rhaid i'r sefydliadau gwirfoddol roi swm cyfatebol iddo — yw £5,000.
Cadw runs a grant scheme for helping voluntary organisations to promote a better understanding of their local heritage. This is known as the Civic Initiatives (Heritage) Grants Scheme. The maximum grant — which has to be matched by the voluntary organisation — is £5,000. The scheme is aimed at small-scale projects which help to preserve, enhance or improve the historic environment of Wales and increase social awareness of Welsh heritage. It is of particular relevance to civic societies or other local, voluntary groups.

Maent yn cyflwyno meini prawf y bydd Cadw yn eu defnyddio i wneud penderfyniadau neu roi cyngor ar newidiadau i asedau hanesyddol pwysig a chânt eu hargymell i awdurdodau cynllunio lleol ac eraill sy'n ymwneud â'r broses gynllunio.
Cadw’s Conservation Principles outline Cadw’s approach to the protection and management of the historic environment as a whole. They present criteria against which Cadw will make decisions or offer advice about changes to significant historic assets and are recommended to local planning authorities and others involved in the planning process.
  Safleoedd Treftadaeth y...
Mae Safleoedd Treftadaeth y Byd yn lleoedd y mae Pwyllgor Treftadaeth y Byd UNESCO wedi eu harysgrifo ar restr o safleoedd rhyngwladol oherwydd eu gwerth cyffredinol eithriadol, y mae eu pwysigrwydd mor fawr y mae'n rhychwantu ffiniau cenedlaethol. Mae'n ofynnol i wledydd â safleoedd treftadaeth y byd roi'r lefel uchaf o ddiogelwch i'r lleoedd hyn, sy'n golygu gofalu am y safleoedd eu hunain a'u lleoliad hefyd.
World Heritage Sites are places that the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO has inscribed on a list of international sites because of their outstanding universal value, the importance of which is so great as to transcend national boundaries. Countries with world heritage sites are required to afford the highest level of protection to these places, which means not only looking after the sites themselves but also their setting. This inevitably results in some constraints upon development within or adjacent to world heritage sites.
  Mynediad i'r Anabl
Ein nod yw darparu mynediad diogel a rhwydd i bob adeilad yn ein gofal, o fewn terfynau unrhyw strwythur penodol. Rydym hefyd yn annog pobl eraill i roi cynlluniau ar waith i wella mynediad ar gyfer pawb yn ein cymdeithas, cynlluniau sy'n ystyriol o gymeriad arbennig adeiladau hanesyddol.
Cadw is committed to the principle of full access, wherever it is practical to provide it.  We aim to provide safe and easy access to all buildings in our care, within the limits of any particular structure. We also encourage others to put in place schemes to improve access for all people in our society, which take into account the special character of historic buildings.

  Siambr Gladdu Bryn Cell...
Yr hyn sy'n unigryw am Fryn Celli Ddu o'i gymharu â beddi eraill ar Ynys Môn yw mai dyma'r unig un sydd wedi'i osod yn berffaith i gyd-fynd â'r haul yn codi ar ddiwrnod hiraf y flwyddyn. Ar wawrio hirddydd haf, mae llafnau o olau o'r haul sy'n codi yn cael eu taflu lawr y cyntedd i oleuo'r siambr gladdu fewnol. Ai'r bwriad oedd i oleuni'r haul roi gwres a bywyd i'r hynafiaid?
What sets Bryn Celli Ddu apart from the other tombs on Anglesey, is that it is the only one to be accurately aligned to coincide with the rising sun on the longest day of the year. At dawn on midsummer solstice, shafts of light from the rising sun penetrate down the passageway to light the inner burial chamber. Perhaps this sunlight was meant to bring warmth and life to the ancestors?

Caiff y gwaith o ddiogelu safleoedd treftadaeth y byd yng Nghymru ei weithredu drwy ganllawiau cynllunio Llywodraeth Cymru, polisïau cynllunio awdurdodau lleol ac, yn aml, canllawiau cynllunio atodol a gyhoeddir gan yr awdurdodau lleol i roi arweiniad i ddatblygwyr a pherchnogion sydd ag eiddo yn safleoedd treftadaeth y byd neu eu clustogfeydd.
The protection of world heritage sites in Wales is effected by Welsh Government planning guidance, the planning policies of local authorities, and, often, supplementary planning guidance issued by the local authorities to guide developers and owners of properties within world heritage sites or their buffer zones. Such is the importance of these sites, that they are almost always protected also by scheduling or listing or conservation area status, though the boundaries of the protected areas may not always be the same. Any development or changes made to properties within world heritage sites will require planning consent and may require scheduled monument or listed building consent as well.
  Tarddiadau a Chynhanes ...
Mae'n awgrymu y dylid trefnu gweithgarwch o amgylch clystyrau daearyddol a thematig o safleoedd, ac y dylai pob clwstwr gael 'porth' (e.e. Castell Henllys yn Sir Benfro). Mae hefyd yn nodi rôl Oriel Gwreiddiau yn Amgueddfa Genedlaethol Caerdydd fel porth cenedlaethol i roi cyd-destun i'r stori hon.
The plan seeks to create a ‘sense of wonder’ at prehistoric sites which will also engender a sense of ‘respect for the ancient past’.  It suggests that activity should be organised around geographic and thematic clusters of sites, and that each cluster would have a ‘gateway’ (e.g. in Pembrokeshire it could be Castell Henllys). It also identifies the role of the Origins Gallery at National Museum Wales as a national gateway for contextualising this story.

  Egwyddorion Cadwraeth
Cyhoeddodd Cadw Egwyddorion Cadwraeth ym mis Mawrth 2011. Byddwn yn defnyddio'r egwyddorion hyn i roi arweiniad i ni wrth wneud gwaith ar y 127 o henebion yn ein gofal yng Nghymru. Byddant hefyd yn rhoi arweiniad i ni wrth ystyried y ceisiadau am ganiatâd a grantiau a wneir i ni gan eraill.
Cadw published Conservation Principles in March 2011. We will use these principles to guide us when undertaking work on the 127 monuments in our care in Wales. They will also guide us when considering consent and grant applications made to us by others. Cadw’s principles build upon those set out by English Heritage in 2008, and those published by organisations such as the National Trust and the National Trust for Scotland. All these principles share the same objectives of conserving and enhancing the historic environment for the benefit of present and future generations. Cadw, as part of the Welsh Government, is committed to promoting sustainable development and the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the people of Wales. Conservation Principles aims to nurture Wales’s rich culture and heritage as a vehicle for regeneration and for fostering local character and distinctiveness.

The projection is complimented by a variety of other interpretation. An extensive handling collection of replica artefacts allow visitors to touch and learn about a range of everyday Roman objects. The items include weapons, clothing, cooking utensils, writing equipment, jewellery, glass and pottery. Visitors can also pit their wits against each other on four animated touch screen games. Players must pick a character before testing their knowledge of the baths through quick fire multi-choice questions. Elsewhere the stories of the baths are told through panels, audio posts and humorous silent films. Even the seating is Roman; the benches are based on designs found at Herculaneum.
  Caniatad
Mae caniatâd adeilad rhestredig yn ychwanegol at, ac ar wahân i, ganiatâd cynllunio. Ni fydd cael caniatâd cynllunio o reidrwydd yn golygu y bydd caniatâd adeilad rhestredig yn cael ei roi. Bydd eich swyddog cadwraeth adeiladu lleol neu’ch adran gynllunio leol yn gallu rhoi cyngor i chi ar sut i fwrw ymlaen.
If you are planning work on a historic building that goes beyond the realm of routine maintenance, planning permission and building regulation approval may need to be obtained from the local planning authority. If your building is listed, these should be sought at the same time as listed building consent . Listed building consent is additional to, and separate from, planning permission. The granting of planning permission will not necessarily mean that listed building consent will be granted. Your local building conservation officer or planning department will be able to advise you on how to proceed.

The amenity societies are a group of voluntary societies dedicated to the preservation of historic buildings and the promotion of the appreciation of those buildings and the cultures that created them. In recognition of their standing and expertise, the government directed in The Town and Country Planning Act (1968) that all applications for listed building consent in England and Wales that would entail the partial or complete demolition of a listed building be notified to the societies to give them an opportunity to comment on the proposals.

The sound of bells, singing, and galloping horses creates an atmospheric sense of arrival and expectation followed by the first glimpse of a procession of cut-out characters inspired by illustrations from fourteenth-century manuscripts. Professional and trade organisations often maintain registers of members that can be extremely useful if you are trying to locate a professional advisor or building contractor in your area. Many of these registers are available on line, and may give additional information about members' experience with or formal accreditation for work on historic buildings.
