Rydym yn awyddus i glywed gan artistiaid gweledol y mae eu cynigion yn gwneud defnydd arloesol o'r gofod TestBed cyfredol, yn ogystal ag archwilio mannau eraill posibl yn ac o amgylch yr Oriel, neu hyd yn oed ar-lein. Fel rhan o'r broses gomisiynu, disgwylir i artistiaid roi sgwrs neu gyflwyno eu gwaith i gynulleidfa.
We are keen to hear from practicing visual artists whose proposals make innovative use of the current TestBed space as well exploring potential other spaces in and around the Gallery or even online. As part of the commissioning process artists are expected to give a talk or present their work to an audience.

Mae'r sesiynau difyr hyn, gyda thiwtor, yn annog cryfderau unigol, tra’n archwilio agweddau gwahanol o dynnu llun y ffigwr dynol. Mae'r sesiynau wedi eu cynllunio i roi cyngor technegol mewn meysydd allweddol fel cyfrannedd, persbectif, llinell, tôn, lliw ac ystum.
These fun, tutored sessions encourage individual strengths whilst exploring different aspects of drawing the human figure. The sessions are designed to give technical advice in key areas such as proportion, perspective, line, tone, colour and gesture. Participants are encouraged to develop their own style using a variety of materials in a relaxed and creative atmosphere. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists.

Mae dull trefnus a gwyddonol Simon yn mynd y tu hwnt i dechnoleg a ffiseg, gan gyflwyno cydbwysedd rhwng y ffisegol a’r ansylweddol. O bosib, o ganlyniad i’w nodweddion o roi bywyd, mae golau yn aml yn cael ei gysylltu gyda phrofiadau ysbrydol neu synfyrfiol yn ogystal â’i botensial i dreiddio’n uniongyrchol i’n hisymwybod.
Simon’s methodical and scientific approach goes beyond technology and physics, presenting a balance between the physical and the non-material. Perhaps for its life-giving properties, light is often connected with spiritual or meditative experiences as well as its potential to tap directly into our subconscious.
So Far It Has Only Been...
Mae’r teitl hefyd yn chwarae rhan bwysig fel bod er enghraifft So Far it Has Only Been for You yn creu lle i ddehongliad barddol i roi ystyriaeth i’r ffaith fod presenoldeb y cerflun yn bodoli y tu hwnt i’w fateroliaeth.
Aside from the physical relationships between materials, Hinkin explores the metaphorical connections between viewer and sculpture. Many of the works occupy the same physical space and volume as the viewer, encountering them as equal. The title also plays an important role so that for example, So Far It Has Only Been For You, creates room for poetic interpretation to allow consideration that the sculpture’s presence exists beyond its materiality.

O weithio yn bennaf ym myd perfformiadau byw a pherfformiadau wedi’u dogfennu, mae arfer Adele Vye yn deillio o’r awydd i roi bywyd i wrthrych, i ymateb i hanes lle, neu i weithredu ar awydd. Mae’r artist, sy’n aml yn ymateb i safle penodol, yn meddu ar chwedloniaeth, sefyllfa a lle mewn arfer sy’n gallu cynnwys testun, print, llun, gosodiad a pherfformiad byw.
Working predominantly in live action and documented performance, Adele Vye’s practice comes from a desire to bring life into an object, react to the history of a place or act on an impulse. Frequently responding to a specific site, the artist intuitively draws on myth, situation and place in a practice that can involve text, print, image, installation and live action. She clearly and directly engages with a political and environmental consciousness, posing specific questions, whilst leaving opportunity for individual response from the audience. Her deliberate use of a filming from a fixed viewpoint and simple editing techniques present a clear documentation of the live work.

Roedd y profion hyn, oedd yn cael eu cynnal o flaen cynulleidfa, yn rhoi dyn i gystadlu yn erbyn peiriant, a'r uchafbwynt oedd 'The Dark Scene'. Wrth i’r goleuadau fynd i lawr, roedd y perfformiad yn cael ei roi gan y peiriant, gyda'r gynulleidfa yn ymddangos i ryfeddu gyda’r ffaith nad oeddent yn gallu gwahaniaethu rhwng y ddau.
I’m looking at a few different things… but as a trained printmaker I’m interested in multiples and reproductions especially the reproduction of the human. I started to get really fascinated by the Edison tone tests, a set of tests carried out by the Edison company at the start of the 20th Century into the fidelity of their phonographic mechanical reproductions. These tests, conducted in front of an audience, pitted human against machine, the climax of which being ‘The Dark Scene’. As the lights dimmed the performance was given by the machine with the audience apparently marveling at being unable to differentiate between the two.

Mae yna lawer o syniadau am ddyfeisiadau difyr wedi codi o isymwybod pobl wrth iddyn nhw chwarae neu wrth i’w meddyliau grwydro, pan fydd eu meddwl yn ymdrin â’r broses o greu syniadau yn hytrach nag yn cyrchu canlyniadau. Er bod llawer o waith bellach yn cael ei wneud ar gyfrifiadur mae dylunwyr creadigol, artistiaid a dyfeiswyr yn dal i ddefnyddio brasluniau i roi ffurf ar syniadau gweledol ac i’w cyfathrebu.
The expression 'back of an envelope' refers to off-the-cuff ideas literally drawn on scrap paper such as old envelopes, and sometimes leading unexpectedly to great ideas. Many interesting designs/inventions have their origins in the subconscious, when people are playful or unfocused, more concerned with the process of idea development and less with results. Even though much work is now developed on computers, creative designers, artists and inventors still use drawing to quickly originate and communicate visual ideas. An artist’s sketchbook is an extension of the informality of the envelope and plays an important role in research and record-making. Drawing is the most immediate way to express a visual idea, to try things out.
