Fe ddywedodd Stephen Grey, Prif Ymchwilydd gydag Uned Benthyca Arian Anghyfreithlon Cymru, “Mae hwn yn achos arbennig o annymunol lle cafodd teulu bregus eu targedu gan ddau fenthyciwr arian didrwydded creulon. Roedd y gyfradd llog yn ‘swigen ddwbl’. Hynny yw, os oedd y dioddefwyr yn methu taliad, roedd y cyfanswm ar gyfer y benthyciad penodol yna yn dyblu eto. Bu i’r ddyled chwyddo a dim ond pan fu bron i’r dioddefwyr gael eu troi o’u cartref y cawsom ni wybod am y sefyllfa. Roedden nhw bron â bod yn ddigartref. Roedd gweithredoedd Bow a Powel yn ffiaidd, a bydd ganddyn nhw ddigon o amser i feddwl am eu troseddau yn y carchar. Mae ein neges yn un syml, benthyca arian gan fenthycwyr arian didrwydded yw’r dewis gwaethaf posib. Os ydych chi’n gwybod am unrhyw un sy’n gwneud hyn, ffoniwch (insert hotline number) ac fe allwn ni helpu.”

Stephen Grey, Chief Investigator for the Wales Illegal Money Lending Unit, said: “This is a particularly nasty case when a poor vulnerable family were targeted by two ruthless loan sharks. The interest rate was, what is called ‘double bubble’. If a payment was missed the total amount for that particular loan would double again. The debt spiralled and the situation only became known to us when the victims were nearly evicted and made homeless. The acts of Bow and Powel were despicable and they now have plenty time to think about their crimes behind bars. Our message is simple, borrowing money off loan sharks is the worst possible option. If you know of anyone involved, please call (insert hotline number) and we can help.”
