Barry Island
  Siambr Gladdu Bryn Cell...
Mae'n debyg mai Bryn Celli Ddu - y Domen yn y Llwyn Tywyll - yw'r heneb gynhanesyddol mwyaf adnabyddus ar Ynys Môn. Mae hefyd yn un o'r safleoedd archeolegol mwyaf atgofus ym Mhrydain. Fel beddi cynhanesyddol eraill, cafodd ei adeiladu i warchod gweddillion yr hynafiaid, ac i dalu teyrnged iddynt.
Bryn Celli Ddu – the Mound in the Dark Grove – is probably the best-known prehistoric monument on Anglesey, and is one of the most evocative archaeological sites in Britain. Like other prehistoric tombs on Anglesey it was constructed to protect and pay respect to the remains of the ancestors.

Yn ystod Prosiect Celf Cerrig Bryn Celli Ddu ar Ynys Môn ym mis Mehefin 2015, bydd yr artist Angela Davies yn gweithio ar y safle a chydag archaeolegwyr y prosiect, gan ymchwilio i bosibiliadau artistig y beddrod cyntedd hynod hwn.
During the Bryn Celli Ddu Rock Art Project on Anglesey in June 2015, artist Angela Davies will be working at the site and with the project archaeologists, investigating the artistic possibilities of this remarkable passage tomb and surrounding landscape. Cadw’s Heritage and Arts Manager, Dr. Ffion Reynolds asks her a few questions about her plans:

Er ein bod yn gwybod enwau llawer o'r llysoedd, dim ond lleoliad nifer fach ohonynt sy'n hysbys neu sydd wedi bod yn destun ymchwiliad archeolegol. Mae Menter Treftadaeth Ddiwylliannol Cymru wedi cefnogi gwaith ar safle dau lys pwysig: Llys Rhosyr, ger Niwbwrch yn ne-orllewin Ynys Môn, ac Abergwyngregyn ar arfordir gogledd Cymru.
Gwynedd’s princes governed their kingdom from a network of royal courts (llysoedd). Although many of the courts are known by name, few have been identified on the ground or investigated archaeologically. The Welsh Cultural Heritage Initiative has supported work at two important llys sites: Llys Rhosyr, near Newborough in south-west Anglesey, and Abergwyngregyn on the north Wales coast.

Defnyddiodd Matt Wright, ffotograffydd 360º, ddelweddau diffiniad uchel i greu cerfluniau a ysbrydolwyd gan wyth o safleoedd mwyaf eiconig y wlad sef Pentre Ifan, Gwaith Haearn Blaenafon, Abaty Tyndyrn, Porthgain, Abaty Glyn y Groes, Grŵp Cytiau Din Lligwy ar Ynys Môn a Chastell Rhaglan.
Matt Wright, a 360º photographer, utilised high definition imagery to create sculptures inspired by eight of the country’s most iconic sites Pentre Ifan, Blaenavon Ironworks, Tintern Abbey, Porthgain, Valle Crucis Abbey, Din Lligwy Hut Group on Anglesey and Raglan Castle.

Safle’r Ynys, Cei Llechi: Yn ganolog i ddatblygiad ehangach Glannau Caernarfon, mae’r Cei Llechi yn cynnig cyfleoedd adfywio sylweddol yn ogystal a’r gallu i fod yn brif yrrwr o newid yn yr ardal. Byddai’r datblygiad yn edrych i ddod ag adeiladau adfeiliedig y safle yn ôl i ddefnydd cymysg.
Island Site, Slate Quay: The historic Slate Quay at the heart of Caernarfon Waterfront offers a significant regeneration opportunity with the ability to be a key catalyst – pivotal to the wider development of Caernarfon Waterfront. The development will be looking to bring the currently dilapidated buildings of the site back into a mixed-usage development. Find out more about the Slate Quay project here.
  Siambr Gladdu Bryn Cell...
Yr hyn sy'n unigryw am Fryn Celli Ddu o'i gymharu â beddi eraill ar Ynys Môn yw mai dyma'r unig un sydd wedi'i osod yn berffaith i gyd-fynd â'r haul yn codi ar ddiwrnod hiraf y flwyddyn. Ar wawrio hirddydd haf, mae llafnau o olau o'r haul sy'n codi yn cael eu taflu lawr y cyntedd i oleuo'r siambr gladdu fewnol.
What sets Bryn Celli Ddu apart from the other tombs on Anglesey, is that it is the only one to be accurately aligned to coincide with the rising sun on the longest day of the year. At dawn on midsummer solstice, shafts of light from the rising sun penetrate down the passageway to light the inner burial chamber. Perhaps this sunlight was meant to bring warmth and life to the ancestors?

Gall ymwelwyr ddarganfod llu o safleoedd anhygoel ac unigryw ar hyd y llwybr hwn sy’n mynd am 130 o filltiroedd o Ffynnon Gwenffrewi yn Nhreffynnon i Ynys Enlli. Rhed y llwybr drwy gefn gwlad, ger glan môr, coedwigoedd ac afonydd, a gall ymwelwyr weld ble arferai pentrefwyr yr Oes Haearn fyw, ble cerddai’r Rhufeiniaid, cysegrleoedd y pererinion a llwybrau teithwyr canoloesol ar hyd y ffordd hon.
Visitors can discover a myriad of amazing and unique sites along this path which runs for 130 miles from St Winefride’s Well at Holywell to Bardsey Island. Set against a beautiful backdrop of countryside, the sea, woods and rivers, visitors can see where Iron Age villagers settled, where Romans trod, the holy shrines of pilgrims and the tracks of medieval travellers along this route.

Mae Prydain yn ynys ac mae ein glannau wedi bod yn fannau cyswllt â'r byd y tu allan ers amser maith. Mae masnach, goresgyn ac amddiffyn, fforio, anheddu, hamdden a diwydiant i gyd wedi gadael eu hôl ar y glannau ac ym moroedd Prydain.
Britain is an island nation and our shores have long been the points of contact with the outside world. Trade, invasion and defence, exploration, settlement, leisure and industry have all left distinctive marks on the shores and in the seas of Britain. Wales is certainly no exception.

Caer Rufeinig Segontium – Dyma’r Gaer Rufeinig gafodd ei defnyddio fwyaf yng Nghymru – defnyddiwyd y safle am dros 300 mlynedd. Roedd wedi’i chynllunio i ddal 1,000 o filwyr Rhufeinig ac roedd yn amddiffyn mynediad Rhufain at gyfoeth amaethyddol a mwynol Ynys Môn.
Segontium Roman Fort – Considered to be the longest occupied Roman Fort in Wales, this site was in use for over 300 years.  Designed to hold 1,000 Roman soldiers, it protected Rome’s access to Anglesey’s rich agricultural and mineral wealth. The Heritage Tourism Project has contributed to the redevelopment of the visitor centre which now brings the history of the site to life through exciting graphics, a handling collection, a site guide, events and children’s activities. Visitors can follow the story of the Romans in Wales at this site.
  Ynys y Barri
Mae gan Ynys y Barri le allweddol yn hanes cymdeithasol de Cymru. Mae hyn oherwydd, o’r 1890au hyd at y datblygiad diweddar o dwristiaeth dorfol o dramor, roedd yn boblogaidd fel lleoliad teithiau dydd i lan y môr o gymunedau’r pyllau glo, a thu hwnt.
Barry Island has a key place in the social history of south Wales. This is because from the 1890s until the recent development of mass foreign tourism it was the focus of day trips to the seaside from the communities of the coalfield, and beyond. But the island is more than this. It is a distinctive part of a dock and railway town that grew up rapidly from 1884. Dock and town were designed to break the monopoly of Cardiff Docks over coal exports from south Wales. By 1913, Barry was the world’s premier coal exporting port. It was, of necessity, a new community, which attracted migrants from across the British Isles, and its cosmopolitan dockland reflected its global reach.

Cydnabod pwysigrwydd y dirwedd a nodweddion y treflun sy’n cyfrannu at ymdeimlad nodedig o le a gall ymdeimlad cysylltiedig o gymuned ddylanwadu ar y ffordd y gofelir am Ynys y Barri a’r ffordd y caiff ei gwella a’i datblygu, nawr ac yn y dyfodol, mewn modd cynaliadwy.
The immediate context of this study is the ongoing regeneration work that the Vale of Glamorgan Council and its partners are carrying out in Barry. This has generated enhancements to the historic eastern promenade and, at the time of writing, major redevelopment of the quays at Dock No. 1 is underway. However, it has broader intentions. Recognition of the significance of the landscape and townscape features that contribute to a distinctive sense of place and an associated feeling of community may influence the way Barry Island is looked after, enhanced and developed, now and in the future, in a sustainable manner. The report could inform dialogue about what is significant in the historic environment of the island, as further initiatives and opportunities arise — whether at the seaside or in residential areas.

  Castell Biwmares
Yn dechnegol berffaith ac wedi’i adeiladu ar ffurf cynllun ‘muriau o fewn muriau’ cywrain, roedd Castell Biwmares yn y 13eg ganrif o ran datblygiadau technolegol yn cyfateb i long ofod yn glanio’n ddiseremoni ar Ynys Môn heddiw.
Technically perfect and constructed according to an ingenious ‘walls within walls’ plan, Beaumaris Castle was the 13th-century hi-tech equivalent of a spaceship landing unceremoniously on Anglesey today.
